Absolutely zero knowledge of Ninjutsu, except what a saw as a kid in the "Samurai" TV series, but does this sound for real to you?

My son was told by an adult friend of his Mother's (I guy I don't know) that he is a very highly ranked Ninjutsu-ist and that they don't have belt ranks but as they reach the higher ranks they get traditional kanji tattoos in certain places on their body.

When my son told me this I said "Oh... OK" but I thought "WTF??"

I certainly mean no disrespect to this art or anyone that practices it, I was just curious if this is true.

Cheers

The Yakuza (sp) japanese mob tatoo their bodies. Kwai Chang Caine tatooed his forearms by burning them in, but why would a practitioner of a "secret" art place on their body a permanent mark that would easily identify them as a ninja. Seems pretty strange to me.

Actually, we do have belts.

I've never heard of this tattoo thing, but any idiot in the world can open up there own dojo and call what they teach Ninjutsu.

;) and Caine was a Shaolin Priest... if memory serves.

Hi Sean I would be very wary of anyone saying such things. This guy is either telling stories or may be part of one of the Fraud groups using the Ninjutsu name. Ninjutsu is a Martial art, and has ranks (belts) like any other art.Our art does however attract more than it's fair share of wierdo's.These people do not last long in the real Ninjutsu dojo's if at all and normally gravitate toward the cult/fake type groups that prey on the gulible or young.

In no way would anyone who trains for real feel that your question is disrespectful in any way.I am in Australia , If your son is interested in Ninjutsu your welcome to email or PM me and I will give you contact details for genuine dojo's with good instructors in the Brisbane area.

Are the rest of you implying that I shouldn't have gotten that kanji tattoo reading "itachi no pe" on my pee-pee?
