View Full Version : Is anyone going to Senior Nationals?
Hello all,
I am going to Senior Nationals in November...I have been training nearly every day... Uhhhgggg! I am tired.
Is anyone else going?
What are you doing to train?
Haven't heard of the Senior Nationals but I have been training for the AKTA Tournament this weekend in KC, KS. Just the usual stuff, paddle work, sparring, forms and conditioning work. Good luck to you! peace
I'm guessing you're talking about USTU Nationals in Colorado Springs?
I'm personally not going, but a fellow training partner is going.
Everyday seems pretty excesisvie. I would be afraid of injury to not resting enough.
Anyhow, good luck.
Yes I am talking about USTU Senior Nationals... It's open this year because of the olympic commitee reviewed them and canceled many of the state presidents who were corrupt in some way... anyho so many states did not have "state tournament" to qualify, therefore anyone can go this year. It should be huge. Next year you will have to qualify in your state tournament. Well, I'm practicing a lot and haven't gotten hurt so far... although my two partners did...(concussion and ankle sprain) I guess that's why I'm looking for a little outside motivation as I train by myself for a week or so.
I know a lot of people rip on the olympic tkd, but I thinks its a lot of fun and very athletic. I like to kick hard. My school is traditional Tang Soo Do and Olympic TKD sparring has really made me a more well-rounded martial artist. -it has improved my kicks tremendously.
"jvkt" Good luck to you friend who is training.
yeah im going (hopefully) its a money thing. I've never fought in a USTU tournment, ive always been in AAU. I heard the rules are pretty much the same, but how does the fighting go, what i mean is if u lose, is that it ur out, or does everybody fight everybody first and then get eliminated from there.
Single Elimination. You lose, you're out.

Check out La Quinta Hotel on Geyser Ave(walking distance) and airfare on Expedia.com combo... I will be going for 5 nights... it cost $853 for two people includes airfare from philadelphia and hotel!! that's $425 each -less than $100 a day. -a pretty good deal. If you buy the airfare and hotel separately your likely to pay twice that amount. The hotel rates that the USTU are sponsoring are really not a good deal. Hope this helps out the $$$$ problem.
I know guys who compete in AAU... and I have seen the rules..it seems to be pretty much the same... if you lose once, you are out--a quick end for all that money...but it should be a lot of fun.
Good luck training. I'm off to work out now... bah humbug-I'm pretty sore this weekend.
