I am certain that I would not be the only person who frequents these forums who would be very interested in a cite for this statement. It would be fascinating to read an authoritative history of martial arts which definitively placed Thailand as the progenitor.

Yes, I'm interested in seeing those references. In another thread Good Advisor was given a web reference and facts in Oyama's development of Kyoshinkai, which I know is what this thread is about since it went against his beliefs.

Based on my Muay Thai Book, it's says that Muay Thai was developed by the Sukhothai in the 12th and 13th century.

I don't know how either are similiar because I know very little about Kyokushin Karate.

But I hope the date helps, btw my book is "Muay Thai, The Art of Fighting" By Yod Ruerngsa, Khun Kao Charuad, and James Cartmell

Muay Thai had influence on Kyokushin's development.

There are arts that predate Muay Thai so they didnt develop it before anyone.

I've also heard that Muay Thai had roots in Kung Fu. But I have no evidense so it could be complete rubbish.

Much of Thailand's history was destroyed in wars with Burma.
