So, I was sparring yesterday, and I had the wonderful idea of blocking a kick to my thigh with my hand. Thing is that the guy I was sparring with kicks you as if he hated you. I was wearing gloves and hand wraps, and I still felt a searing pain, leaving my hand pretty much useless for the rest of the session. I just lost all strenght on my hand, it hurts pretty bad, as if I had broke it.
Any help on what to use/do? maybe some ointments like Tiger Balm will help? Any kind of help is much appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Well, as you already now know, DON'T BLOCK KICKS WITH YOUR HANDS!
That is a bad habit I had to get out of too. As far as injuries to hands go, I had surgery on my right hand one week ago. They had to put a plate and screws, as well as a bone graft from my wrist, in my hand to repair a break that happened in August and then rebroke about a week and a half ago. Take care of your hands, you need them badly. :D

The smartest thing to do now is to go see a doctor. It sounds like you broke your wrist. From now on don't block kicks with your wrist. The bones are to delicate to take that kind of force.

No, I didn't break my wrist, but it hurts when I try to lift stuff. I'm using tiger balm, and it's helping, and now I have learned my lesson... Thank you both for your advice.
