TX MMA rules may change this year

As some of us know MMA events in Texas have been really tame, for years now, due to restrictions by the state government. There has been a proposal, calling for changes, to the state's wording of rules regulating boxing, MT kickboxing and MMA. Below is a link to the proposed changes. As it reads now, in MMA events, you cannot strike to the head except with an open hand. Issues such as this have been proposed for change. I really am not getting my hopes up, but we will see.

Texas promoters and competitors need to band together into a political action group to influence the proposed regulatory changes. They need some type of formal industry association.

I'm working this legislative session to change the Texas motorcycle helmet law. The Texas Motorcycle Rights Association was pretty much formed soley for that purpose.

If the MMA promoters and competitors don't organize and lobby on this issue, they have no right to complain about the rules in the future.

I totally agree. If they (THEY=the MMA guys) don't get some form of centralized commission, they run the risk of the pariah we used to call "Boxing". The crooks and thugs have just ruined it. The question is, how can this happen fairly...without without the warring factions and the usual control/money-grabbing that goes with the territory? :eek:
