I just received the Captain of Crush #1 (140 lbs) in the mail today and it rocks. It's definitely made to last and provides an excellent workout in developing your crushing/supporting grip strength. I was a little concerned when I held it because I thought I may have ordered something I wouldn't be able to use. I ended my fears by closing it 7 times in each hand. Yeah, that ain't great, but to me, it's a good beginning. I'll eventually work my way up to a #2 @ 195 lbs., but I'm more than happy to wait until I can close the #1 for 15 reps with each hand. My goal is three months before moving up to #2. If you have tender hands, you may want to invest in some type of gloves because the handles are made to be securely gripped. I can tell I really like this gripper and will work with it regularly. It's a keeper.

Quick breakdown:

#1 @ 140 lbs.
#2 @ 195 lbs.
#3 @ 280 lbs.
#4 @ 365 lbs.

If you work your grip and/or have a strong grip already, I recommend you start out with a #2. However, many will tell you to get their Trainer model and just workout with it and then check your grip against the #2 or higher. To each his own, I say. I don't work my grip (weight resistance) on a regular basis so I bought a #1.

You can check out the Captain of Crush hand grippers here:

IronMind Enterprises, Inc. (http://www.ironmind.com/ironcms/opencms/IronMind/index.jsp)

p.s. I just want to clarify that the weight(s) listed are NOT actual weight of product. The weight is the unit of measurement for amount of tension needed to close the hand grippers.

Peace

I should mention that this morning I was able to successfully close them three times. They worked my grip more than I thought. I guess I'll do what I can throughout the day but I think the seven in a row is a thing of the past for some time. ;)

Iron Mind is a great company, if a little pricey. I second the recommendation for the CoC grippers.

I have trainer to #4 very good gripper.
I found a way to modified the gripper to customized them to load thme from 1 pound to 35 pounds extra on your own strength levels. I called it J.A.G. and I also invented the Ender to end those last closed blues.

CoC, great stuff! I got 'em too. Started with Trainer, until I was able to close 20x, then up to #1, same, then working on #2. Good training!

Glad you posted since I forgot about this post.

Update: I'm now up to 12 successful closings x 3 sets per hand.

Not ready for any increase since that wears my grip totally out for a few days. I try to compliment with pull ups using a towel in the garage (15 x 3 reps) and rolling a 10lb weight up 18 inches of 550 cord on a broom handle (10 x 3 - rolling away and rolling to).

Peace

But when I start it was only one rep=your father ahead of me in the starting thing.
Iam 1/4 inch from closing the BBE.

70 reps?! Holy living! Your fist's must be like rocks. There's nothing like going down the road and squeezing a few reps out until you get this contorted face and pain that runs up through your neck - NOT! I so hate that. And for what? A "click?" :) I'm awed by the 70 reps, though. That's really amazing to me. How long did it take you to get that many reps and what did you do (or are doing) to compliment your grip strength and endurance.

I know I used to hold pennies and dimes (pinch and hold flat sides, for those that haven't tried) for time with the regular grippers you can buy at Wal-Mart, but I don't see that as something I can do with the #1's.

Have your forearm increased in size from start time to present? Mine hasn't increased in size but there are definitely more lines than before when I make a fist and fists are definitely more solid. I'm hoping there will be some growth but I'm happy with the looks when I shake hands for now.

Peace
