The stove (http://www.shadowslight.com/pictures/stove/stove.JPG) - This is my ultralight backpacking stove. 2in wide, 3/4in tall. .5oz! With pot support, wind screen, and prime plate... under 1oz. Feel free to improve with some hot coals.

Oh, yeah... I should probably point out that this guy does a different style of shovel fighting than I do.... my style is alot more grounded and more oriented for in close fighting than this guy.

Unfortunatly, to my knowledge, no one else has a video on shovel work.

Doesnt heating the Spetsnaz Shovel using it as a stove take the temper out of the metal thereby reducing the metaal's temper and therefore it's edgeholding ability?

Sorry for not responding earlier

Heating the shovel to such a low level doesnt hurt the temper at all.

No, unfortunately no yet.
I will though it's just that I'm waiting for something else I ordered to come in first, since it is a tad expensive.
It turns out that a couple of tactical catalogues that I get carry them. I never noticed that before untill we started talking about it. They have them at a very reasonable price.
It won't be long before I have one.

Coincidently, I received Lynn Thompson's Special Projects, A Division of Cold Steel catalogue today,
And lo and behold what do they sell? but Spetsnaz shovel.
Shovel w/ sheath $24.99.
They also have a few other items I wouldn't mind owning.
I'm going to need second job.

Maybe at one point yes.
In my case it's more about aesthetics and history represenatation.
By that I mean the shovel in it of itself has no historical value, but it represents a part of russian military history.
The same applies to my samurai sword and USMC K-Bar knife.
Plus they're cool looking.

Yup... Cold Steel Special Projects is the place to get em. You CAN get real Soviet/Russian shovels, but the steel is thinner and the handle is pine. Get the double thick steel and the hickory handle from Cold Steel. Thats what the shovels youll get from USCav or BrigadeQuartermasters are.

And Eric, I *USE* my shovels. One in each vehicle for emergency situations, and one in the house.... Ive never dug a hole in the backyard, but Ive dug plenty of holes in the woods for fires, latrines, or whatnot.
