See this thread (http://www.budoseek.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=9089&page=1&pp=20) for details on why you can't see E-Budo at the moment. Then come back here and unburden yourself and give us all a fix of Shorinji Kempo related stuff (what do you mean, you haven't registered yet!).

Hi David:

I just started my first class at Caltech branch, USA last week. Is it required to use certain brand name (like Isami) for dogi or I can buy any brand? The senior kenshi told me that I can buy any brand but I read that we are going to have a new dogi with new logo from Honbu. Please advise.

Hi Herdi

I'll beat Tripitaka to it - it's all a bit up in the air at the moment. Hombu definitely want us to move to all having licensed dogi. However, there will be sew on badges with the new logo available during the transitional period. Also, I believe the intention is that approved dogi will be manufactured under license to bring down the costs to an affordable level.

For practical purposes, I would also suspect that quite a lot of discretion will be afforded to branch masters in terms of what new students will be able to wear. For my own part, running my own classes in Glasgow, Scotland, until the cheaper dogi are available, I intend allowing my students to train in the dogi they already have.

The reason you see a lot of senior kenshi wearing the Japanese brand dogi already is simply that they are of superior quality and much more durable than the kind of dogi you'll get from the local sports shop. This however becomes more important later on when you do techniques which involve grabs to sleeves/lapels etc. Whisper it - I suspect, like me, they also like having the original manji on the dogi, however relatively inconspicuous it might be.

Frankly, I trained in a bog standard sports shop dogi up until brown belt/sho dan, and given the situation with the logo, it probably makes sense to spend as little money as you can just now.

Check out the Isami and Ozaki web sites. They are selling of their old Shorinji Kempo dogi at very reasonable rates. What was 11000 yen (sk95 dogi) on Isami is now 4500 yen. Some are down to 2000 yen. Admittedly they will only be good for the 3 year change over period, but by then you will be looking for another anyway.

Hi Tony & Colin:

Thanks very much for your response :) . I will check Isami site. 4500 Yen (approximately US$45) is a good deal.

That's not good Raul. I hope you find something shortly. As good as ebudo is, eating is better.

I would just like to throw in that www.asianmartialart.proboards17.com (my website) is also open to any of the ebudo frequenters.

We also have a Shrinjikempo forum.

Any thoughts on when e-budo will return?

Thanks for the link, Anders. I had gotten an email notice from John Lindsey, but couldn't figure out how to get in. Any idea why the link from the front door (http://e-budo.com/) isn't in service?

I beg to differ. That link ("Visit the forums") is NOT working. Anders' link, above, does work.

As for right now, the e-budo logo on the front page is linked to www.e-budo.com/offline.html
But the link "Visit The Forums" are now to www.e-budo.com/forum/ That was also to the "offline" page earlier.
