The dojo at which I train had Mr. Dave Lowry in over the weekend for a couple of sessions on the use of the bokken and applied principles of budo. Pictures can be found at www.takanoko.com in the gallery section.
We had a wonderful weekend.
Man, that must have been awesome.
How was it?
Tell us a little about the experience.

Tony,
It was great! Mr. Lowry is such gifted budoka, with what seems to be a limitless wealth of knowledge. He was very cordially and had a wonderful ability to convey a message. We had aikidoka, jujutsuka and karateka all present; each were spoken to in a manner to allow them to understand what he was discussing.
There was much discussion regarding body mechanics and how the use of bokken can be translated to empty hand. He spoke about the movement of the body and the need to move uniformly as opposed to disconnected movement of body parts.
I have always loved Mr. Lowry's books and had an opportunity to meet him in St. Louis and worked to bring him to the dojo in Louisville. I think that everyone who participated had a learning experience.
Cool beans.
Man, am I jealous.
I'm glad you had a good and worthwhile experience.
Did I mention I was jealous? :)

There is now an article on the sight along with the photos, it was written by one of the karateka who was attending the seminar.
Enjoy

Man, I've always wanted to meet Mr. Lowry, let alone train with him, seeing as I practice Yagyu Shinkage-ryu, it'd fit.
Oh, I'm such a dreamer.
Regards,
-Alex Dale
Cool photos and wonderful narrative, but what does he teach? What is Yagyu Shinkage-ryu?
Please elucidate.

Thank you Mr. Brown, Mr. Lowry is the epitome of a prime example of martial arts expertise and professionism.
I gathered that, Jack, but what are his specialties? Karate? Sword? Judo? Archery? Aikido?
I've heard his name but I don't know anything about him.

You're quite welcome my friend, how's the weather out there? I lived in Santa Monica for a couple of years and loved the climate :D
