Hi, I'm looking for a good Ninjutsu school in the Tucson region. I have been looking and found 1, Arizona Bujinkan & Budo Kai Dojo. And i was wondering if anyone has ever trained here or has any information on this or other Dojos in the area.
Thank You
Casey

Hi Casey,
I trained at the Arizona Ninpo & Budokai for about 6 years. Great bunch of folks...you'd do well with Peter and Eric (Tucson).

Hi Casey,
I assume you're referring to these guys http://www.arizonabujinkan.org/ ? If so I've heard a lot of good stuff about them and they are recommended or affiliated with Richard Van Donk.
There's another great school in Tucson that I've been looking into, and plan to go and watch a class by the end of the month. The instructor is a 15th degree black belt, Shihan Jeff Prather, and he's been a personal student of Hatsumi Soke since 1985. For what it's worth, this school is an official branch of Hatsumi Soke's dojo. If you'd like to compare with the other school, here is their website: http://www.bujinkanusa.com/
Good luck,

Jeff Prather on the one hand...
... and a Van Donk offspring on the other hand...
Personally, I'd definitely go for Mr. Prather...
But as the word "personally" says it, that's just me.

At Taikai a few years ago Soke Hatsumi personally recommended Prather...
Shame I'm stuck in the UK. I know where I would be.
Good to see Bujinkan people here... wanna let some Ukes fly sometime?
If you ever plan to quietly tread these lands this is where I train: www.bujinkan.co.uk
You know if all of us got together in one place we could easily take over a small country... Luxembourg for example... Just a thought.

No they aren't. Where in the world did you get that idea? (affiliated)

RVD may recommend them, but there is no affiliation. I've known Peter Crocoll for many years -- he's a fine guy, has good students, and these days (based on the last few times I've seen him in Japan) is very good at Bujinkan budo.

Yes let me say that I got the wrong impression when I said that Arizona Bujinkan was affiliated with Van Donk. He does "recommend" them on his website and that's how that misunderstanding came about, but I guess they're not affiliated with him.

Yes, I've heard from several sources that Shihan Prather is the man to train with here. I'm going to check out a class next week and hopefully join up next month. I wish I would've found his school a long time ago, but better now than never I suppose.
I see that your school has satellite branches here in the US. Very cool indeed and if I ever have the pleasure of going to the UK again (been to London once in the late 90's and loved it) I'll definitely stop by for a hello if possible.
As for taking over a small country, I wouldn't mind as long we can set up a tax free government. he he I just filed my taxes last week and alls I can say is ouch!
