Olympic sparring gear

What kind do you use, I under stand that many people here don't like olympic sparring, but from those here that do spar olympic style what do you use.

We use Tekno. I have no idea if it's a "Q21 series" or not.

I'm one of the un-fans of Olympic Sparring so I pretty much just wear what I'm required to wear.

I don't completely dislike Olympic Sparring, I actually love the continuous fighting aspect of the sport. I'm not much on the lack of hands. For us, the only hand techniques allowed are middle punches. I think hands are important too. Plus I hate the Hogue - nothing says "hit me here" like a big red dot on a pure white background. Just my opinion.

That is the one thing I don't like about olympic sparring. No judge ever counts hands it seems. the one time I scored off a hand I knocked the guy down as he did a round house. Every other time they just ignored it. And the way to tell if it is Q21 is if it has a big Q21 right on it. They like to advertise who they are.

I have just bought a Tekno J3. I love it. It has the hardness of a Tekno Hard but also has a soft foam to take away that extra pop [now that judges mainly score on sound and not the actual kick you want to have as much of an edge]. It has large shoulder straps to protect the collar bones and they are made especially wide so as to wrap fully around the body and protect your kidneys [now that the back is a target, it is pretty important to make sure your safe].

I don't have the gear yet but am looking to get mine real soon. The best Hogu I've seen thus far seems to be the Adidas (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B0002JSAMO/ref=dp_primary-product-display_0/102-8716623-7869749?%5Fencoding=UTF8&n=3375251&s=sporting-goods) brand. I've actually worn several different brands and it seems like they are able to absorb alot more and I also like the larger shoulder padding area.

If you are going to get adidas get the two peice set, their other ones do not absordb nearly as much as the Tekno Q21, Hard, or J3 seies do. Just my 2 cents

The J3 is basically like that Adidas one except that it wraps a whole lot better and covers the back more while not being too large and restricting leg movement. Overall I think the J3 is more comfortable, just to wear and while kicking. The Adidas is more comfortable to punch in. They are both about the same material.
