The Mission of BudoSeek! is to promote unity, cooperation, mutual respect and communication in the Martial Arts Community.*
BudoSeek! was founded in 1997 by Robert Carver and is privately funded by him as a way of giving back to the Martial Arts Community. Our 1997 founding makes BudoSeek! the FIRST Search Engine and Portal exclusively devoted to the Martial Arts Community. Since then, there have been a lot of imitators come and go, but BudoSeek! continues to set the standard by which others follow. Our goal is to make this your one-stop resource for Martial Arts related information on the Internet.
BudoSeek is not affiliated with or endorsed by any martial arts organization. BudoSeek! and it's staff in no way endorses the products or other services provided by websites listed on our site, or the views and opinions expressed in the BudoSeek! Martial Arts Forums. The views and opinions found in the BudoSeek! Martial Arts Forums are the personal expressed views of the originator of the message, and are not necessarily the views or opinions of the administrators or moderators of this site.
In order to have your website listed or register in our forums, you must provide a valid email address. With all of the spam that is out there, it is very understandable that you might be hesitant to provide some personal information such as your email address. We pledge that any personal information you provide during registration of your website or to register in our forums (of anywhere else for that matter!) will never be released, sold, given away or anything of that nature to any third party. We take your privacy seriously and as such, any information you provide stays with us!
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Hey, some of the pages on BudoSeek! look really screwy!
A. We try hard to make sure that every visitor to our site has an enjoyable experience and we design our pages with that in mind. However, some older computers with older operating systems and browsers may see things that are "not quite right". We have two suggestions to help you alleviate this problem: First, consider upgrading to the most recent version of the web browser you are using. We recommend Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.0 or Mozilla Firefox 3.6. If upgrading your browser does not work, we recommend upgrading your operating system to the most current version of Windows (Windows XP), the Macintosh operating system (OS X) or the most current version of Linux. Addressing these two issues should allow you to view the site without errors and with maximum enjoyment.
Q: Does it cost anything to have my site listed on BudoSeek! or to register on the forums?
A: Absolutely not! BudoSeek! will never ask anything from you, monetarily or otherwise to have your site listed or use any of our services. Everything on BudoSeek! is FREE and we intend to keep it that way!
Q: Can I register my site in more than one category?
A: No. We prefer that you list your site in the appropriate category only. If you submit your site multiple times to different categories, then we reserve the right to place your listing into the appropriate category for one submittal. The rest will be disallowed. Multiple submissions is referred to as "spamming the engine" and is in poor taste. Many search engines will refuse to list any of your submissions and will place your site on a "banned domain" list that will prevent you from submitting at all. We prefer not to do this, but multiple violators may be placed on the banned domain list without warning. BTW, changing the name of a site to try and get it past the review process will not work.
Q: Can I link to BudoSeek! from my website?
We would be honored to have you link to us on your website. We have a variety of button and banners that you can use just for that purpose. Click here for information on how to link to us.
Q: You mentioned that BudoSeek! is privately funded, isn't it expensive to operate?
A: It certainly is not cheap, and as we have grown, the cost of web hosting and bandwidth has definitely increased. Although we are happy to pay for these services privately, we do really appreciate any support we receive from our members. If you are interested in supporting our site, please visit our Support page to learn how you can contribute.
Q: I would love to have a web site for my school, but don't know how to put one together. Can you help?
A: As a side business, the Budoseek! webmaster does offer web design services. For more information, contact Robert Carver.
