As you can see from the above, I am in the market for a 1911. One thing I have noticed after being out of the firearms fandom thing that have been going on for a while now, is the number of companies that are now making their own models. So here is my question... what brands would you recommend and what brands would you not? One thing that was brought out in another thread was the point of aim on Springfield Armory pistols being at 6 o'clock. That's not something I would particularly care for unless I have sights I can adjust to POA/POI.

What I am looking for is NOT a race gun or some ninja-fied tactical pistol. Instead, I would prefer a weapon that is just a little better than a military spec pistol. After all, it's the simplicity of the 1911 that makes it the classic that it is. :)

I see a lot of old familiar names on the market, but there are a lot of strangers there too. So any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!
