  1. Another translation request...

What would be the Korean equivalent of the Japanese "tori" (the person doing a technique) and "uke" (the person receiving the technique)? Thanks!

  2. Learning to speak/read Korean

We recently started a Korean Language class at the Dojang. Initially, the class was pretty easy as we learned the Korean Alphabet. Now, however things seem to have become much more difficult. My question is two-fold: 1. How difficult in-general is learning the Korean language? 2. Is there...

  3. Five elements system? Translation.

So, I'm trying to translate from Japanese into Korean. The word "Gogyo" means "five elements," referring to the Daoist five element system of Chinese medicine (not the Tibetan five element system found in the Book of Five Rings). "Ryu" means sytem (or literally, "current," as in a stream of...

  5. Should loyalty be based on race?

As a Korean I get told a lot at church and by other Koreans in our community that I should switch to a school owned by a Korean and that I should be ashamed of myself for learning from an American. That every dollar I spend in an American owned school is like stealing a dollar from a Korean. The...

  6. Koreans : What do we think?

This is in no way meant to be a disrespectful thread about Koreans. But when discussing Martial arts and Korea with someone who I regard as superior/peer of mine. He/She stated that they were a big no no. Is there any reason for this other than possibly personal ? Ive always had an interest in...

  11. Korean word for "coordination'

I cant seem to find the Korean word for "coordination" By coordination, I mean in the martial arts sense, physical coordination. I have checked several dictionaries, but keep coming up with the same word..which basically mean "people working together in to do something..as in a "coordinated effort"...

  16. Christianity in Korea

I was just curious about the growth of Christianity in Korea. It doesn't seem like Korea has been exposed to Christianity to any greater degree than any other country in east Asia, but it seems to have so much more of a presence there and among Korean-Americans. Does anyone know why? The best...

  21. question Korean business ethic?

First of all, allow me to appologize for the potentially inflamatory nature of this post. I intend no disrespect, I'm simply trying to separate fact from fiction. Background: I live in Alberta, Canada. It's not exactly known for racial tollerance. More to the point, "redneck capital of...
