Hopefully I have posted this in the right forum. I’m looking to take an extended trip to Asia within in the year. I have had an interested in learning a Martial Art for a long time and I feel that the best way to learn would be complete immersion. I am most interested in spending this time learning Tai Chi but am open to suggestions of other practices that might suit me better. I am willing to dedicate at least two months of my trip to the task. What is the best way to go about this? What region would be the best place to study. If I am correct, Tai Chi is of Chinese origin. Does this necessary mean China would be the best place to learn? How do I find a suitable well-respected school, preferably one that is not over commercialized? What should I look for in instructors? I would like to be immersed in not just the art but also the culture of the art and the culture surrounding the art. I have looked for info on the net but am having a difficult time making heads or tails of anything. Any answers to tthese and other pertinent questions or references to websites would be of big help.
