Just heard about it, Frank Shamrock.org I must say one thing frank shamrock is on of the strongest and most respected mma martial artist I have every seen. I will have to check into that one. That would be a good match.

If Frank is still as we remember him from his UFC career...I'm all about Frank winning this one. He wasn't bad in Pancration over in Japan, but he really excelled in the UFC against the fighter's of that time. Frank is under 190 isn't he?

Yep frank is under 190, don't get me wrong he is a good fighter but I think for this one I am not going to say who I think will win. The reason for that is Cesar gracie is a strong fighter just as frank. I say this fight is history in the making and I just can't wait to see it.

We'll have to wait and see what happens. I saw from the link you provided that Frank took some time off from training the team...and the fight date was pushed back. Hmmm!

I agree. IF he is still as we remember. Sometimes after a layoff, you think in your head that you are still atop of your game, but reality comes with a hard fist to the grill!

I am pulling for Gracie. I didn't care for Frank's attitude when I met him a few years ago.

I met him once, at his gym in San Jose. He was HUGE! Not just 190, that's for sure! And he moved like a panther.
And cracking up, laughing about going fishing - even said something like "I caught a fish this big! I swear!" to the guys he was warming up with.
Seemed nice enough to me. Of course, this was at his gym and right after he went on vacation, so the timing may have been part of it.

Frank Shamrock was incredibly dominant in his prime. Why he stopped fighting is beyond me. I don't know about today, though. He has won his last nine fights, but it's been 2 1/2 years since his last fight. Before that, it was another 2 1/2 years since he fought. That's a lot of ring rust to be working out - and he's not getting any younger, either.

I got to train with Frank a couple months ago and he told me about this fight.
I have to say he looks in as good shape as he's ever been, and he's put on some muscle since his UFC career. When I last saw him he was at about 200 lbs, and he looked in much better shape then his last fight with Pardoe.
He seems to be taking this fight very seriously, since he was already in training for it months ago.
I think Cesar should have chose to make his debut against someone else... I'd like to see him win some fights...Last edited by Mikey Triangles; 09-10-2005 at 12:05.

Michael Leubbers, the last fight of Frank's was against whom? The last one I remember was a K1 fight against Shannon "The Cannon" Rich (at least, I THINK that was the opponent) and Frank broke his arm with a kick. Whew! 2 1/2 years since his last fight? I had no idea it has been that long. I'm going with Frank to win and win in a big way. I don't think he's ever had a boring fight in his career as a fighter. Him and Bas was/is really good to watch.
I'm with you, Mike, in thinking Cesar should have found a different opponent to break into the scene with. It's not like there's a shortage of talent at that weight to pick from. Of course, now that I think about it, the sensationalism may not be there as it is with Frank's return the ring - and the bad blood between family names.
I also seem to recall an interview where Frank was asked about his leaving the UFC and he made mention about the challenges just weren't there...and needing some time to pursue other things. Don't quote me on this, but I at least got that impression from that interview...as vague as it is in memory.

His last fight was in March of '03 against Bryan Pardoe (relation to Remco??) in World Extreme Cagefighting, which he won via armbar. He did fight Shannon Rich in a kickboxing rules fight, and he did break his arm with a kick, winning the fight. That fight was in 2001.
