Hap Ki Do is my base art but I also do Kumdo along with my HKD training, and am planning on doing Hai Dong kumdo.

I did Tae Kwon Do for a summer, though I admit doing it only to be able to go full contact with my hands to the midsection. This was before I could do boxing legitimately.

Hello All,
I have the pleasure of training in American TKD MDK for the past 24 years.
I started when TKD was not polar.
Martial Arts in general where part of the fringe element of society – the crazies did the MA back then.
There was a sense of brotherhood and respect among fellow martial artist. You did not have to know the person – but if he/she was a member of the martial arts community, you started your exchange with respect.
This is just how blessed I was to be expose to this type of MA community. I know not all MA communities are like this. I was just very lucky and as a bad person in a bad community – the MA where and remains a place where one can be at peace and be free.
TKD was and is great – it is up to its practioners to maintain and progress the art.

I have studies Hapkido, for a year, and Teukgong Moosool and Tukkong Moosool (two different associations), while I was living in Seoul.
I am currently studying Kiaido Ryu Martial Arts in Auckland, NZ.
Its all about mixing itup and making a comprehensive set of skills for the real world situations.

"Many of you so called Karate, Taekwondo, Kung Fu, and
Judo people only have an idea of a true martial art
but once you get to the sun source of all martial
arts, that which is practiced by the masters of
Sinanju then you will have and understanding of the
martial arts.
Ah, and understanding is true mastery."Nastiness Prime – Soke, Honey Badger Kung Fu

I did Cha Yon Ryu for a year (academic year, it was for PE credit at college), under Grand Master Kim Soo himself. It just didn't feel "right" for me, not really what I wanted in a martial art. It felt too limited, not something I felt I could count on if I was truly fighting for my life.
Those are just my impressions of the art, it may the the greatest thing ever to some other people, it just wasn't right for me. The fact that it was a collegiate course for PE credit could easily have caused what was taught to not be a true reflection of the art is a possibility also.

I trained in Tang Soo Do and Soo Bahk Do for one year when I was in Seventh Grade. Helped give me a good foundation, and I would like to pick it up again some day. Either TKD or TSD.
