Good story. But would the owner lawfully be allowed to kick the fleeing man in the back? Granted, there was a knife involved, but the threat was already over as the man ran out.

Maybe one of the LEOs will explain whether or not he was allowed to do what he did.

I don't think anyone in their right mind would actually pursue that one. If they did, they should definitely let him off due temp insanity or something. I mean, dang! He just had the threat of possibly losing his life! LOL! I doubt if I can understnd why he chased an armed person without being armed himself, dropped down into a fighting stance, and then did a jumping/leaping lumbar kick towards a glass door, and then pulled out a cell phone while outside the store (who was inside watching for shoplifters and, I dunno... the till?)...hence, the temp insanity defense.

I Sence mr kung fu man would have a blade in his gut. BUt who knows.. defintly not me

Well if he was in Texas he would be allowed, he could have shot the guy in the back. In California however, I don't know.

As long as he still had the weapon or was fleeing with property then yes, you can shoot him anywhere.
