It is very, very stupid to do something like this. No words can explain it. The people who I have witnessed do something like this on video at least had the brains to use a dull sword. Live and learn. At least most people do! I do not know what drives people to continue on with demonstrations like this. I just do not understand it.

At least this guy had the right idea. If you can just remove the apple then the sword will be relatively harmless. Three feet of razor-sharp steel is nothing compared to the danger of a ripe apple.

dang, now I have to find a school that defends against this type of attack. i've heard plenty of stories of helpless victims attacked by apple-lead swords...so sad

Big problems associated with apples:

Remember the big scare in the 90's with apples and the Pesticide "Alar"?

Apple seeds have trace amounts of cyanide.

Without that tragic first dessert, we would never have worn out our welcome in the Garden of Eden.

And, lest we forget, the source of all evil.

This brave warrior nearly gave his foot to rid the world of one of these foul fruits. Thank Vishnu that he is training to attempt it again soon. We should all observe a moment of silence in his honor.

Making a dumb demo dumber.

I would ask how could someone be stupid enough to be kicking toward the blade and then retracting down the tip but he is already dumb enough to be kicking apples off swords.

Just to show him how it should be done, I went out into the Louisiana snowstorm and did a couple of practice runs. The results can be seen to the left.

Ow, Ive seen two other examples similar to this.

One where the master put a piece of sushi on his students throat and attempted to cut it, first cut didn't go through, second cut sliced his students throat open.

Another, live sword versus empty hands, empty hands defends and throws live sword, live sword guy falls properly, but sword falls on his foot and cuts off his toe.

That is EXACTLY what my wife said when I showed her the results.

I think she is overfond of her salad shooter, personally. Why use that when you can kick the offending fruit off of the tip of a sharp implement? Amateur.
