Well, you know what they say about Korean women: You can't live with them, and you can't make them dress up in one of those skimpy little, all-cotton doboks and beat you in a room full of kimchi.

Well at three in the morning walking out of Poly's in Itawon after a very long night, it was a bowl of cheesy ramen and some yakimandu (sp?) which is basically a deep fried meat dumpling... That pretty much hit the spot! I also am a huge fan of Korean BBQ - specifically spareribs. And you can hardly go wrong with bulgogi and sticky rice.

I love Shin Ramyun noodles..spicy foods are always a hit with me. In Yechon the little diner where the ROKs would eat served it in huge bowls. Kimchi is great too, but I exude a stinky cabbage smell for days after eating it

If Samgae-tang is on the menu, I'm ready to order. It's a chicken soup, stewed with ginseng root, red dates, sweet rice, and garlic. Downright rejuvenating!

I'm with you there on the Shin Ramyun. As for smelling like Kim Chi, that has a very important self-defense function - it drives away zombies, vampires and other forms of the undead.

Agreed. The KATUSA's assigned to us used to eat it in huge quantities before we went into the field. They claimed it drove away insects. It certainly kept ME away!

I stopped by Seoul Siktang on the way home from work yesterday (its only a couple of blocks from my house) and they did not have Samgae-tang on the menu.

They do have excellent sushi, though.
I'm up for going for some bolgogi at Kimchi Sushi sometime. If I can get a baby sitter, I'm sure I can talk my wife into dinner out,. She loves the food there and we haven't eaten there since we moved to South Austin (we used to live up by Cameron Rd and 290, so Kimchi Sushi was just a short hop across the freeway for us).Mushi mo atsui hodo

I once had kimchi while taking Hapkido, just to try it, it tasted pretty good, but I've never tasted any other Korean food(which makes it the best by default).

I just read every post on here and I like EVERYTHING you all described.....I've never been to Kimchi Sushi....BUT...here in Florida when I go to my favorite sushi restaurant (which is every Saturday afternoon) I actually order Kimchi Sushi with Kimchi sauce on the side...I add wasabi to the kimchi sauce and man is it good...I'm like you all,,,I like the spare ribs, bulgogi, meat dumplings, kimchi, and I used to like the korean peppers until they clogged my ear up once and caused me not to be able to hear or blow my nose on the right side my head for the rest of the night!!!
