Twitterpated Perplexion

Sup ya'll? I first thought of posting this in the Chat and Fun stuff thread, but then decided to place it here, since it really just depends on one's own point of view, and all that mess. Over the past few months, I have been dealing with someone who has a lot of pride, right? Well, it's starting to frustrate me a little. I find it hard to grasp the concept of pride, and the illusion of strength is presents. I thought of an intersting analogy for how I see it.

I could go and build the strongest door ever built, and tell someone that I see with a great deal of pride, and tell them "No matter how hard you try, you will never break through that door." To the best of my understanding, that person will expend great amounts of time and energy tyring to find thier own way through the door, when all they really have to do, is just ask for the key, and it will be given freely.

That is my personal take on pride and what not. I would appreciate any comments or personal insight from anyone.

Yeah, but I have to try, don't I? I don't regard this person as a fool, quite the opposite, this person is smarter than me in many ways. I disagree with your statement that it all depends on how we look at things, not how they are, I have tried to live with the policy that when you look at someone, or something, try to see what is really there, not just what I want to see. Because if I just really want to see something, I will, weather it's there or not you know? I do however appreciate your insight. It's definately given me something to think about.

It seems like those with tons of pride have their heads to far in the air to even realize any hazards in front of them (geez, I'm profound). It is pretty hard to help these people without making them look like idiots, so it would be best to let them do it themselves. Otherwise you look like you're trying to start trouble.

I share that point of view, and thats what I really think I have to overcome it with this person, just wish there was another way than patience.

Patience is a virtue that I sometimes struggle with. I personally believe a lot of patience mixed with a little "attitude" can do wonders.

I believe I know a little of your circumstance. In this particular case, doing activities that generate laughter and fun might be your best bet. Trust is a tool that will bring down many walls. Just a suggestion.

I think you're missing the point. No matter how hard we TRY to see things for as they are, we can't. We just aren't capable of observing and processing that massive amount of information, not even concerning ourselves. Which is not to mention other people.

People ALWAYS see what they want to beleive. That's just how our brains work.

And THAT is, at least one reason, it depends on how we look at things. We have a very limited perspective.

Having pride is not the same as been arrogant nor been proud. Pride is the sense of
honour in someone or something which includes the self. Be it obvious to ourselves or not, we all have pride within our hearts which is a part of our philosophies.

Arrogance and been proud, on the other hand, can be deadly. Arrogance is the belief of been superiour via a series of events whilst been proud is the belief of been superiour by the overcoming of a single event.
