I'm an addict
I missed class last week due to illness. I ended up wondering around the house not really doing anything, just feeling out of place.
I came to relize that I was missing my fix.
My name is Stephen and I'm a martial arts addict.

It is not love that sucks. It is the absence of love that sucks. Love is the most wonderful, most powerful force on the face of the earth. It overcomes all things, anger, hatred, and fear. So learn what love is, and enjoy it, because it only truly happens once.

Acknowledging the problem is the first step. We're here to help.

The cure, of course, is to do it more often.

Boy do I feel you. I just went back tonight after having my hand in a cast for four weeks. Yeah, I was going insane!!! But I am normal again, I had my fix....Yes I am an addict.
Why the assumption that you can beat us without rules when you can't beat us with rules? Those rules happen to protect both of us, it would seem that most have forgotten that small yet significant point. What's keeping me from maiming you for life when I get position and you obviously can't get away? The rules, take those rules away and I'll curb you [sic] right after I knock/choke you out.

You can't become addicted to Martial Arts. I've been doing judo for 39 years and I can quit anytime I want to. In fact I plan to quit the day after I die.

I found out how addicted I was early in my training many years ago.
I was working for a company and we were putting alot of hours. I missed a couple of classes, combined with the stress of the job I started suffering from migrane type headaches.
First oppurtunity I had I went to class. When I walked onto the floor I had one of those headaches, but I was determined to work out. Within the first 15 minutes or so, the headache went away and had a great class.
As much as we joke about it, there is no better high then after a good workout. I fell great afterwards, and can't wait for the next fix.

I had made it back to my classes this past week and got my "FIX". It felt great to be back. I'm looking forward to this upcoming week also.
Whats funny is that I've been doing this for years and I just now realized that I'm and addict.
I also know what you mean about feeling great after a workout. I've been sore and exhausted and still felt better than when I first got up in the morning.

I drove around with my gym bag in my truck for twelve weeks hoping I would get off work in time to get to class. Things finally started to slow down and I’m back in class again. It was the longest dullest twelve weeks of my life. (I really need to do something about that whole working thing.) I too can quit any time I want…really I can. No… really… I can!
PS. What do you call a Martial Arts intervention? A: Two hours of blood sweat and tears at the Dojang!

Hehe I have the same problem. I find I come to class sick (within reason, of course). My thing is if I'm well enough to get out of bed, I go to class. Last week was awful, though. I've been fighting off a nasty cold and couldn't go to class all week. I came back today and during warmups, all I heard was coughing. It was like a choir of coughs, hacks, sneezes. Gee...I wonder where I caught the cold...
Cute, but deadly.
