Style vs Style ?
Just got done playing tekken 5 (one of the best fighting games out there) and I was just curious, if you had a chance to go see any style vs any style in the world what would it be and why.
Mine would be Tae Kwon Do vs Capoeira
Tae Kwon Do being known for its kicks and Capoeira being known for its dance like movements would make for a interesting match.

I would like to see Capoeira vs Drunken style Kung Fu. Both rely heavily on evasive movements and both atack from unexpected positions.

The Kendo student practises furiously, thousands of cuts morning and night, learning fierce techniques of horrible war, until eventually sword becomes "no sword", intention becomes "no intention", a spontaneous knowledge of every situation. The first elementary teaching becomes the highest knowledge, and the master still continues to practise this simple training, his everyday prayer.

I've seen Capoeira vs Tea Kwon Do, it was a good fight at first, but the TKD fighter got smoked.

I've always wanted to see someone use Tai Chi Chuan against almost any style. I've heard people build it up as an effective martial art that few have the patience to master, I've heard people tear it down as mystical mumbo jumbo; I just want to SEE it and find out!
Just put any one of those UFC champs in with a legit Tai Chi martial artist. I'd watch.John Pratt

Nah. I suspect that after a few minutes they'd give up trying to project chi and start fighting hand to hand. We should try to set this up... some people might learn something about reality.

Oh. Just to make clear, I responded to Mr. McConnell's post not Mr. Pratt's.

Since this is hypothetical, I'd like to see pre 1900's karate(Before Itosu and Funakoshi took it to the public), vs. "modern" karate (1908 to present).
And any two styles that makes intense body conditioning a integral part of their training.

As anyone ever seen the Combat Ki practioners fight? I've only seen a few demostrations of them taking the full power punches and kicks. While it is impressive to me that they can take the strikes, if you can't do it in a fight, then, IMO, it's not useful.
