    This is a martial art I have never heard in my life and its probably because its only 10 years old ^^;; covers everything from good head kicks to ankle locks

    That was cool (and I don't usually say that about Korean arts ).

    Was that wood floors they were falling on? Just a matter of time before someone bounces a skull off of it and get hurt bad.

    I found this all quite all quite astonishing. The guys shown here are truly exceptional. I'm wondering if their kicking is rooted in the old Tae Kyon style. They are remarkably precise and powerful with their feet.

    It does look like a hard floor, Cliff. They sure hit the ground hard and move fast. I am too old and too chicken to try this, but I like it.

    I checked over at HapkidoForum.com, and there was only one post on this, also asking for info about the school. The poster, Matthew Rogers, also saw it as a HKD/Yudo hybrid -- with great kicks. Ironically, Matt was the one person I was thinking of emailing about this because I figured if anyone would know about this, he would.

    I wonder if we're going to see this in MMA competitions?

    Isn't that perplexing? The competition tape is so good -- I could easily see serious fighters wanting to train there -- and yet there's this possible McDojang thing going on. Doesn't make sense to me.

    That is honestly the first thing I thought of as well. Such good looking training and such (apparent) sokedokey BS at the same time. Hard to understand to me... But what the heck to I know anyway...

    its just telling you how to become a grandmaster... And hopefully, no-one would want to become a grandmaster of this art by paying his way up after seeing that video.

    btw in the video, what you see on the bottom is the fighter's name + his dan/degree.

    It was a good video. You seem to have a vested interest in this. Are you familiar with this group or the instructors?

    Sorry. I was curious as you seemed interested in the, "How to become a Grandmaster" aspect as well. I thought maybe you were acquainted with some of the people in the video.

    wow...that was nice. I guess that word means mma in korean lol. Thats pretty hardcore with minimal equipment (all I saw was foot pads and a couple of mouthpieces) and hard floors.
    Why the assumption that you can beat us without rules when you can't beat us with rules? Those rules happen to protect both of us, it would seem that most have forgotten that small yet significant point. What's keeping me from maiming you for life when I get position and you obviously can't get away? The rules, take those rules away and I'll curb you [sic] right after I knock/choke you out.

    Quite impressive. I didn't see much punching, but the kicking, throwing & grappling were all very solid. I'm also impressed with the toughness of anyone taking some of those big judo/yudo throws on a hardwood floor.

    That was a very interesting clip!

    ...I'm with Cliff on the hardwood floor thing - just a matter of time before someone gets hurt really bad. Don't matter how good your breakfalling is when you land on your head on a hard surface.

    I also noticed the same thing as Tony D about the lack of head punches - there was one dude doing body shots in one part of the clip - but I get the impression that punching the face is prohibitted. Which made me think more of Pancrase than MMA (they can at least slap & use open hand strikes to the face though I think).

    The clip description mentions TKD & Yoodo (their spelling not mine) only. While it does not directly mention Hapkido, there is a beautiful HKD kick defense take down in one of the first fights. Overall, these fellas showed a high level of technique - regardless of what name they are putting on it, that was some pretty good stuff IMO
