exclamation Can someone PLEASE help me with this?

Hello. I used to be pretty heavily involved in martial arts. I've been exposed to many different kinds, including Tae Kwon Do, Wing-Chun, Jiu-Jutsu, Filipino Arnis (similar to Escrima and Kali), Penjak Silat, etc.

Of all the different styles I've been exposed to, Muay Thai was one of my favorites. I would LOVE to learn more about it. I love it because it's such an effective method of self-defense, is great for the body, and is a real no-nonsense type of art (no fancy stuff).

The only thing is... I've had almost no luck at all finding a school that offers real Muay Thai training. I live in Oklahoma City, OK. There are a couple of schools in Tulsa, but that's almost 2 hours away - I couldn't drive that far. But I've found no schools listed on the Internet that specifically list themselves as Muay Thai schools. And I've posted this question on two other boards, but have gotten ZERO responses. In fact, one of them is based in England and one I think is based in Thailand (which if I had the money I'd love to fly down there and train), so they probably have never even HEARD of Oklahoma LOL.

But seriously, if anyone can give me ANY info on this, no matter how small, then I would appreciate it greatly. Thanks.

You should look a bit broader and find a MMA school. Most teach at least some rudamentary Muay Thai. Also, if you liked Thai boxing you may look at western boxing. You'd probably enjoy that also.

Hmmm... actually I was associated with a MMA school. That's how I got exposed to Muay Thai in the first place But those are both great ideas. I'll definitely give 'em both some SERIOUS thought. Thanks.

If anyone else has any ideas, or info, I'm all ears!

    Josh,
I live in Norman. There is Conans Kickboxing here in Norman, and Academy of Martial arts in Midwest City. Both do a very good muy thai program. Who did you train arnis with?

Oh yeah, I know of Conan's Academy. I didn't know they also taught Muay Thai.

And I trained Arnis at Haggerty's, in Midwest City. It was part of the MMA training program that I was with for several years, as was Muay Thai.

You should also try kali/arnis with Darrell Sarjeant. I think you will find it quite different then what you did at Haggertys.

    Little update:

I decided to go with Conan's Kickboxing Academy, in Norman, OK, for training. I guess I am now back into it, and training Muay Thai Of course, I am outta shape, so I gotta get conditioned again But it was great, and I think it's gonna be great for me!

    Just thought I'd share.
