All Japan Ju-Jitsu International Federation
I just have to ask. The first line of the Wikipedia article says
The All Japan Ju-Jitsu International Federation (abbreviated to AJJIF) is a Governing Body and International Headquarters of Traditional and Combat Jujutsu in the World.
How true is this and how much is fantasy. The article sure reads like hyperbole and the website is down right painful.
Depending on the response here I may just re-write the lead paragraph a bit or one of you guys could do it. I put some comments on the talk page.

The more, the better! I would like to see them all make a tattoo on their foreheads "I am a Soke, Judan, Supreme Deity of 7th Buddha's Heaven!!!"
Dan ranking system is so corrupted that it deserves to be banned for good. Or preserved only in Kodokan, as this is the one and only institution that should really have the right to issue Dan grades - since they invented it!
AJJFI is a joke. Laugh. Or cry, whatever... Aside from koryu schools, all other jujutsu schools that are "gendai" by their nature, founding origin and training methods - should be fair enough NOT to issue Dan grades. I am a member of few such organizations (national and international), I reached 6th Dan from rather respectable association, but now I am rejecting all these Dan grades, or simply not mentioning them - not bcause i am ashamed of them, but becaues my son said: "Daddy, you are practicing 30 years, and you have "only" 6th Dan - look at this uncle, he is 10 years younger than you and holds 14th Dan Ninjutsu! You must be very stupid, huh?"...
In Serbian language word "DAN" means "day". So, when they ask me "Which DAN you have?", it also sounds as "On which day you have it?" And nowadays I answer "I have it every day!"...

Peter --- If you do a search for Kunin here and using other online sources, you'll have plenty to digest (most of it will make you somewhat queasy).

Hi,
Not Alexey Kunin again and his thousand year old Katabami Clan jujutsu taught by his mysterious teacher Kano Tenamura.
Russ, to answer your question, Glendale, California
Simply because we use the Katabami mon and the similarity of the names, Tenamura and Takamura, we are ocassionally approached by the ignorant public concerning Mr Kunin teaching Shindo Yoshin ryu.
YIKES!
There was no Katabami Clan....There was no codified jujutsu school 1000 years ago....And I suspect there was no Kano Tenamura. Oh......And Kunin is now claiming to teach Daito ryu too!

Geez....this is confusing. The website lists the entry under "Japan representative" and part of their worldwide connection. So there is a Kimitoshi Sato and a Sato ryu in Glendale listed as their Japan representative?? I do beleive that is intentionally misleading.

Sato Shizuya, who formed Nihon Jujutsu is one of the department heads for the IMAF. AFAIK, he's an 8th dan in Kodokan judo, as well as head of his own style, based on Kodokan Goshinjutsu, the Kime No Kata and other bits n' pieces.
Nicklaus Suino studied under him as well I believe.

I recognized the sequence of techniques in the last two links. Once a year our club attends a French training week where Nihon Tai-jitsu and Nihon Ju-jitsu is taught by Roland Hernaez (a student of the late Minoru Mochizuki). I must say that the French yudansha perform those techniques a lot better than the person in the vdeos.

Hiya Russ,
i misunderstood your question. I thought you wanted to know where the headquaters of the All Japan Jujitsu international Federation (AJJIF) was.
That's our boy, "President and Grandmaster" Alexey Kunin
Kimitoshi Sato ???? Hummm......Google it. Who do you suppose shows up?
Alexey Kunin and an organization called the IFMA
Google Sato and IMAF and up comes Shizuya Sato.
IMAF...IFMA...Sato...jujutsu...Just coincidence or intentional confusion? You decide.
My guess is theres no such person as Kimitoshi Sato or Kano Tenamura.Last edited by Toby Threadgill; 01-05-2007 at 19:07.
