You were a sergeant in the USAF, so you attending a systema seminar and concluding that it 'rocks' somehow has something to do with U.S. Marines and martial arts? MCMAP (the topic of this thread) has nothing to do with what the USAF teaches, nor does it have anything to do with either Krav Maga or Systema.

Your little burning smiley face is cute, though I'm rather at a loss to understand what you're angry about. I pointed out in what was meant to be a good-humored way that your post was off-topic. It is unfortunate that you not only are unable to comply with the rules, but apparently aren't smart enough to keep your multiple personalities straight. Buh-bye.

A little story for you all.

My late Sempai, Col Jim Tirey, was out in Calf. doing something with the Marines before his retirement when he ran into Gen. Jone (the Commandant the ordered the creation of MCMAP) and Gen Jones said " Jim you'll be glad to hear that we plan on forming a martial arts program for the Marines."

Jim- "Good Sir! Who's running it?"

Jones " We have this Aikido guy, a Civillian."

Jim " I know who that is , good guy but I dont think Aikido or an Aikido based system would work well for Marines. To tell you the truth, you have an Officer who i have trained with who would be perfect for this."

And the man he was talking about was George Bristol, who was the head of the formation of MCMAP and ran the school for about 3 years.
George studied under our Sensei, Daivid Lamond, in addition with people like Hunter Armstrong as well as being a skilled Judoka and Karateka.
MCMAP was alot more Judo/Jujutsu/ old school Hand to hand when George ran it,the MMA influence is big now. Some Marines I know think thats great, others want it to stay away from sports and stick to controlling, maiming and killing training.
It's a good thing overall either way, gives these guys a sense of being a weapon themselves. A Warrior should train to be dangerous with nothing but his mind and body, then add weapons for multiplication of lethality.

From the sounds of it MCMAP may soon be taking a role in our promotion system. So it will help to take time and become proficient in H2H combat. Sounds like a great thing to me.

It's already being used for meritorious boards in my unit. Can't pick up Cpl without your grey, or Sgt without your green.

As to those who say that MCMAP doesn't work as a system because they saw a couple of boots screwing it up in a training video: show me any system that looks effective when you watch their lowest belt-level class. Recruits haven't even earned their tan belt yet, they are not certified in ANY level of MCMAP. If you really want to see it in action, call up the instructor school at Quantico and go a round with some of our black belts. I'll buy the beer for anyone that can do a full 2-hour workout with a black belt class.

PS: some who intend to take up this challenge for the beer may be inspired to do a little recon and order up the MCMAP episode of Human Weapon. Those individuals are welcome to do so, however they should be aware that the footage I saw looked like a slow-mo highlight clip. To get the full effect, put your dvd player in fast-forward, loop the footage for a couple of hours, and add some soundtrack from Full Metal Jacket.

HAHAHA you guys got jokes.... 2LT, 1LT, Officers... man those are good ones.

I used to teach level I MACP to the karateka at the dojo. It was a good easy format to introduce these non-grapplers into the ground game. I followed the curriculum up thru Level II and toss in some additional Judo throws. The thing I drilled into their heads was this was an introduction into ground work. It was was once a week and they enjoyed it.

Well I would just like to point out that I just finished the Green Belt class (3rd level) and this system is designed to build on the previous belt/ techniques that were already taught. Since I have just gone through the Green belt course I can tell you that the Black belt Instructor that was teaching it is not some one that you would want to find yourself in hand to hand combat with. Do not get me wrong I do not think that the MCAMP program is the best MA program on the planet but with todays recruits being more of the "on the couch video game playing" type as opposed to the "athletic get out and fight you in the parking lot after school" type I see that this program is ok for basic skills at entry level. It is when you go beyond Tan belt that you start to learn real skills that you may actually be able to protect yourself when you are in combat or walking the mean streets of America.

Never said I made black belt or masted all of them. Some I took for two years, some I've taken for fifteen years. I have been in and out of Judo, and Kempo many times.

My dad was carreer Air Force, we moved every three to four years my entire life. I was a small skinny kid, so my dad thought it wise to sign me up for judo lessons when I was nine. Every time we moved took what ever was being taught for free at The base gym.
It got to be a hobbie, I enjoyed the comradery.
Then I joined the Air force, four years, three different bases, same story.

I find weight lifting boring, so to stay in shape I join the locale dojo. In the strip mall behind my house there is a TDK school that also teaches classes and in thai Boxing and Combat Hapkido I don't take it all as serious as I use to, couple days a week work up a sweat.
I only listed the ones that I really liked.

Now your turn.
How could you learn any thing in a place called Red Stick.
At least I have the guts to list a bio.

Why does it take guts to list a martial arts bio on a martial arts bulletin board? I think it DOES take guts to admit that you were in the USAF!

This is the thread that got me banned, I had to use my work computer and beg Robert for weeks to let me back on.

Mad I could not make it into the Airfarce? WTF are you serious? The best thing that the Corporate military I mean the Airforce had going for them is that Staff Sergeant Michelle Manhart now she was hot I would have joined the Air Force if she were my Drill instructor! But like the Airforce you guys sure do know how to mess up a good time and you kicked her out! Way to go!

Come on dude. You gotta let it slide. It's all in good fun. I never made it through USMC boot camp then years later I enlisted in the Naval Reserve. Boy do I get ribbed for that, especially by the Marines.
