Best of luck. Let us know how it goes.
I would have to wonder if someone was NOT nervous before a Dan grading. Nerves are not such a bad thing.

In what ways do you know/feel it will be different than testing for 2nd dan (aside from material specific to the 3rd-dan syllabus)?

Good luck. Just remember to breath. When you hold you breath, you get nervous & pass out. No, not me, but someone I was testing.

I had a student who neer remembered to breathe. He was testing for his 2nd gup I think it was. Not a problem during hand techniques, but we got to kicking & it was quite "aerobic". Well, he held his breath during the techniques. One big inhale, 15-20 fast kicks, then exhale. Well, after about 10 sets, he just dropped. We dragged him off to the side, & he was fine in a few mins. He never did get his black belt.

In my org, 3rd dan is the last shot the region Master's get at you, 4th Dan is done by the senior Master only, that means they are going to do all kinds of crazy stuff, other than the normal rank qualifying material, they come up with a bunch of stuff you can't plan for, it's all off the cuff free style stuff.
I watched a 3rd dan test last year, it was brutal, I know I'll get through it, I think I am ready, just starting to realize it's just about show time.
It's been 6 years since I tested for edan, getting to old for this stuff.
Thanks for all the incouraging words, it defininty helps.the best is yet to come

Glad to hear things went well. How long till you find out? I always hated the wait. Even hate it for my students too.

I will find out offically at our Summer Dan Camp in August, If I passed they give me the stripe then if not I'll get the private discussion on what I need to do, but I am sure I passed everthing went very well, I was not ask to repeat anything during the entire test, I made All my breaks, and I felt great, I think my form was on. I got alot of compliments from several of the Master saying I had a very good test and the Grand Master him self told me the next day my test was very good and he gave me the thumbs up.
At the end of the test, the Regional Director said it was one of the best test he has seen in a long time, that gives me a lot of confidence.
Just wanted to thank all of you for your kind words of Brotherhood encouarging me forward, thanks again.the best is yet to come
