    Default Your Personal Heaven

I'm wondering - should any of us be lucky enough to have a pleasant afterlife , how would it look if it were made to your tastes?

This thread is meant to be for fun and is not meant to start an intense religious discussion, by the way.

    I'll go first.

There are two things I love but whose consequences I abhor and those are eating and fighting. Being from from this conflict would be, well, heavenly.

The old Scandinavian idea of Valhalla seemed like a nice idea, though I would modify it a little. Just think, an eternity of practicing and applying martial arts, big feasts at the end of the day, nobody really dies, they're just down until morning when they get another chance.

Though, I'd like certain no-fight zones so we could not be bothered when we don't want to participate, full and complete recovery in the morning (no lingering injuries), and of course, a hyper-abundance of good food, especially Vietnamese pho soup and catfish without bones....
I realize you think you understand what you thought I said, but what I am not so sure about is whether what you think you heard is what I think I meant.

I'm with you Erik on the food, good beer, many varieties, seafood, breads, fruits and vegetables, meats, etc. prepared in many ethnic styles. No fighting per se but lots of time to train.

I have envisioned a cottage in the woods by a sparkling stream. The cottage has a thatched roof. Nearby there is a lake with an island in the middle and a mountain on the island to climb.

Friends and family to spend time with and time to be alone.

    Peace

They'd just be there. You'ld be the one working out the details of your own fitting in I rather imagine. If not having earned them as your reward, could you not settle for being their punishment?

I would wake up in Whole Foods and everything would be free.

I could eat as much as I liked and never be uncomfortably full.

My 70" HDTV would be filled with exciting and funny new shows and movies on every one of the 200 channels available, in full 7.1 surround sound.

My domicile would be equipped with a crash-proof model of the fastest computer available, upgraded every month automatically.

Every night, should I so choose, I could indulge in the most incredibly restful sleep a human had ever experienced. I would fall asleep immediately and wake up refreshed whenever I chose.

My body would be replaced with the one I had when I was 21 and made indestructible. I would be provided with a perfect uke and granted access to all the greatest martial arts teachers in human history.

My '87 Monte Carlo LS would be in perfect working order, indestructible, and fusion-powered.

That'd pretty much be my idea too, only maybe... substitute Thai food for Vietnamese pho soup. And include Italian food on the menu.

Oh, and you could eat and drink ALL you want, and NEVER get fat! And you would NEVER get out of shape. THAT would be Paradise!

The perfect fajitas, served to my heart's (or stomach's) content. All my friends (except the ones I don't like ). Amazing skateparks, sparring and street fights out the wazoo and an unlimited source of finely built men in board shorts tending to my every whim..

Wow, sounds like a great vision of heaven. I've found that broken orbital sockets, fractured ribs, and knife wounds you don't realize exist until it dawns on you that your shirt is wet and you feel dizzy are a blast.

I wonder what manner of god presides over such an 'Escape from New York' paradise. Perhaps some incarnation of David Patrick Kelly?

I think an after-life Paradise would have to be mutable based on my whims.

What ever activity I feel like particpating in, direct at hand, be it eating, fighting, Training, or playing around in a laboratory on the surface of Mars. A small handful of companions to share it with, not always the same, and not always human. And my cats, all of them. I think the companions would be the important part, though.

Eternity is a REALLY long time, and I think that someone had better remove our ability to get, you know, bored...

    Clink . . . clink . . . clink . . . clink . . . clink . . .

Don't have a personal take on heaven or paradise per se, but I doubt David Patrick Kelly would be in the plans regardless.

Hehe . . . . . Yeah Tony, I'd wager a guess that most Baby Boomer and Gen X martial artists who've seen that movie have pictured themselves running the gauntlet of "gangs" that faced The Warriors! I think the scariest of all the scenarios is the one with The Lizzies (the way that scene starts would make some guys' "personal heaven" lists). In most of the other scenarios, The Warriors are expecting a fight, or at least they're ready and able to fight. Now the guys on roller skates ------ bring 'em on!
