School teacher by trade. But I teach kendo as one of my classes and I run a dojo separately on weekends.
With a handful of exceptions, in kendo if someone earns their living from running a dojo it's a red flag with "caveat emptor" written on it.

Correctional Officer by Day (or graveyard shift when I can get it) Sensei the rest of the time. My job pays the bills. My teaching is what I am. It's what I do.
One must remember that karate is about thinking. Combat is about thinking. Battles are not won by the weapons that are brought but by the strategies that are employed.

I don't believe in teaching martial arts as a career. It should be a calling. Students should be chosen carefully and trained adequately. It shouldn't be only for those that can afford instruction. Just my opinion and they are many others out there.
Being in a very fortunate position for the past few years. I teach for free and accept donations to pay for very low overhead. I work the graveyard shift as a correction officer. I teach four classes a week for adults only.

I teach... but the art chose me... we have a saying in silat... "You don't choose silat silat chooses you".... I have heard that one in five thousand martial artists becomes an authentic teacher.... its a calling truly ... many people who can't do ... teach...and many who teach shouldn't... but the way I learned was by following a man who did what no one else was ever able to do... he was superhuman... now I pity my students that all they have is me to learn from... for it was greatness that brought me to be what I am humbly today.... my prayer is that I can reflect just a ray of the light my teacher brought. To this I have dedicated my life... may God Almighty grant me the words and the skills and the inspiration he wants his servants to experience from me...

In what way was your instructor "superhuman?"
As a side note, could you use sentences and paragraphs, as opposed to a list of phrases separated by "..." ? Some of your posts, I have had to spend time rereading a few times to figure out what you were saying.
