    Default western traditional martial arts

Perhaps it's not very exiting ... I'm wondering whether there are any western traditional martial arts. Usually tma's are always asian ones ... so ... ??? Is the development of "special" martial arts only a asian things in history? ... except of fighting with a sword - the only ma I know in western history.

No, "er" is an expression of confusion.

Systema comes from several different Russian styles.

    Fencing, Sabre, Epee

Pankration, though I think it was reinvented. I don't think any real Pakration was passed down to todays Pankration.

    Catch as Catch Can Wrestling

Also heard of a art called Cornish, didn't get to see any of it though.

I think Cornish is Cornish Wrestling which includes some boxing but I'm not sure. I'd be curious to learn a little about it.

Original Pankration was a lot like what we see in the UFC and Pride, as I understand it.

Also, gibt's doch Fechten bei dir? Fencing is a very western martial art. As are the wrestling styles David described. Catch (or Catch as Catch Can) wrestling is a lot like Judo & Jiu Jitsu.

There's a school in Canada that teaches "traditional" English fighting which includes striking, grappling, and weapons. For the life of me I cannot remember the site but it was very interesting as it claims to be based upon old manuscipts of English and other European martial arts. These manuscripts are published on the website - they're not "secret."
I realize you think you understand what you thought I said, but what I am not so sure about is whether what you think you heard is what I think I meant.

There is also exists several forms of stickfighting. Especially the canarian version seems to be alive and well. And on Iceland they still train and compete in Glima (old style belt-wrestling).

There is also the reinvention-societys like ARMA, SCA etc. But I wouldn´t classify that as "TMA".

Actually each distinct culture usually has some form of wrestling, it's practically universal.

Archery was prevalent in the west as in the east.

    Staff fighting.

    Boxing.

Many other weapons were trained, it's a matter of debate if that training rose to the level of art. It would depend of what definition you use for art.

The Native Americans had the Tomahawk, the Cudgel, the Knife, the Bow.
