Trust me it's a great education for me and as well motivating. If I can be a third of as good as they are (were) I'd die happy.

Unfortunately, he passed away in April of this year at the age of 81.

Great kata and what a contrast between what he does and what now goes for "karate".

    Tribute to Okinawan Masters.

Some nice pics here. Interesting to note that they added some pictures of what appeared to be some Kung Fu practitioners as well.

Hey Jabonn can you verify or recognize any of the following?

    Rare Video of Uechi Ryu.

Old Okinawan masters were very secretive and did not like to share their techniques with just anyone. They do not like videos. On occasion they would trust some of their seniors to tape them with the explicit instruction not to share it with anyone. Iha sense explicitly denied us video taping him or his sessions. There were some exceptions, but very few. I personally have 8mm video of Nakazato sensei when he was much younger that I was entrusted with. What I think is starting to happen is that since many of these great master have passed, many are sharing and publicizing the videos.
Some of the up and coming masters are more attune to the modern media while I know of others that still do not like to be video recorded. I've also seen and own video that the sensei has purposely altered the kata or technique. You wouldn't know it unless you train with him.

Terou Chinen sensei of Goju Ryu in a three part series.
I friend of mine trains with him and I met him about 20 years ago. Typical Okinawan in that he appeared very unassuming but you can tell has an underlining feel of raw power emanating from him.

    Part 2

The father of Kobayashi Shorin Ryu and my karate great grandfather.
Chibana sensei performing Naihanchi Shodan, Nidan, and Sandan. Three generations later and we still perform our kata the same way, unchanged.

    Naihanchi Shodan.

    Naihanchi Nidan.

    Naihanchi Sandan.

Yep very very slight difference. Isn't great to see that after 40 years of Chibana Sensei being gone that his karate still lives.

The following is a video of Katsuya Miyahira performing Passai Dai in his dojo. Also some of his students practicing and a glimpse of a Passai bunkai.

I'm sorry I don't know what you're asking. Almost every of my posts has at least one Okinawan master performing. Just click on the underlined name.
They are youtube links. Only a few in the beginning has since been removed from youtube.
