    Default aiki-jujitsu

What is aiki-jujitsu and what is it all about? My dojo also teaches this and I was wondering like what they did in there techniques, strikes, and whatever else.

    Thanks

How effective is this martial for street self-defense? I've never really ever heard of this martial art till a while ago and I'm just curious about it.

Karate Jay. Aiki Jutsu is a part of the Bugei of the Samurai. It is principal based, as opposed to technique base. I would suggest that you go to google on Bugei trading company. There is a link there for "training" and a link there for "videos". Look at the "Siki-JuJitsu" video and you will get a bit of explaination and get to see a little of it. I hope this helps

Jason --- This varies widely (i.e. it can be a description of a bonafide Japanese martial art on one hand, or a marketing term used by some folks as a label for an art that may or may not be comprised of or derived from aiki-jujutsu). There are lots of posts about this around the web, especially on e-budo: you'll have plenty of posts there to sift through from folks who study aiki-jujutsu, those purport to do so, and those who otherwise think they're experts on the subject.

Care to post a link to your school's website?

From a technical perspective, most certainly true. But regarding formal adoption of the term, this is debatable.

Here is my school / dojo website posted above. It doesn't however say anything on there about Aiki-Jujutsu. Also tell me what you think about the kick-boxing section of the website and what you think of the instructor.

    Jason:

The term "aikijujutsu" is one of the more abused terms (along with Soke) in the Martial Arts community. Ask your sensei where he learned his aikijujutsu from, what is lineage is and what "system" of aikijujutsu he has trained in. He should happily tell you who he trained with, the formal name of the ryuha of Aikijujutsu and any other details. Then, come back and let us know what he said. We'll be happy to expand on the details once we know a little more.

If the bios can be believed, then the kickboxing as well as karate offered at your school seem legit. Is the aiki-jujutsu a new program being offered, and if so, are the school owners planning to bring someone with rank in a bonafide aiki-jujutsu system in to teach, in the same manner as they did for kickboxing?

The Aiki-Jujutsu teacher is out with a severe shoulder injury. My sensei didn't say when he would be back. The whole reason I asked about Aiki-Jujutsu is because I was wondering what there fighting style was like. What it consisted of and what they did exactly in there martial art. I don't think the program is new cause I'm new and I just found out about it.

If you can gather the information suggested by the Webmaster, that would help a lot. Can't comment meaningfully otherwise.
