I have had a couple of breaks. All I did was tape them, rest and resumed training pretty soon after them.

Don't tape your big toe!
It's probably too late now anyway. And I'm sure it's healing well. BUT you shouldn't tape up your big toe if it's broken unless specifically told to by the hospital. If it heals pulled inwards (from taping) it there is a chance it will heal bent and this could lead to problems. It's a judgment that needed to be made by the person treating you.
I broke the second bone in my big toe last year clean through into thee pieces. Its was pretty bad and had to be manipulated and taped up to hold it in place. It was decided not to put it into a cast because it needed to be wiggled about so it didn't fuse straight. There was some concern about taping it but they felt my muscley ( LOL) toe would hold itself straight. I spent a week with it elevated, and then started walking with a stick which I had for a month.
Be carefull with your toe. Even after 6-8 weeks a sharp jolt could re-break it, and it will be close to 18 months before the bone reaches full strength.I learn something new everyday.
