    smile2 Back-kick applied

It's rough, but here's a couple kicks getting the job done:

A bit risky, but it worked. Some fodder for thought for the camp that thinks you will never kick on the street.

Big difference between defending your life due to an assault on the street and a mutual engagement.

    Nice video, Jason.

Kicking is effective - when realistically applied.

As per this particular vid, I agree with TonyU, it seems a mutual engagement. More along the lines of, "Ready, set, fight."

Funny, but my brothers used to line up that way when they were little. Sometime past the age of 6 or so you could always rely on one to slip in early with a sucker punch. By teenaged, it was just a mutual free for all, down and dirty fist fight.

The video shows a realistic application of the back kick, but I don't think that was his best choice of kicks in that situation. Why did he not just front or side kick the guy under the punch?

He was successful; that is all that counts. Just goes to show that you can still use a sub-optimal tool to get the job done.

He kicked the crap out of that guy. That warms my heart.

That was a nice kick wasn't it Jeff? I was wondering the same thing as you were though, a nice simple front kick to the jimmy might have been much easier to pull off. Although, I guess there is something to be said for pulling the unorthodox move and surprising your attacker as well...

If he had missed that kick or not have hurt his man it would be another example of why not to turn your back.

I like the field goal kick to the face as his man was trying to stand.

Nothing like a good arse stomp!

Looking at the video, the attacker was coming in for a high attack so maybe a kick to the jimmy by the defender would have left him blocking punches too, not for very long! Arm Chair Ninja Says: What about a straight thrust kick? The soccer kick to the face was great!

    Default Great kick

That is one of my favorite kicks, but I think a nice front kick to the chin or round kick with the ball of the foot to the knee would have been a nice way to end it quickly.
