20th Century Duels
I have newsreel footage of four different duels in France employing the duelling (sharp) epee, one each from 1938, 1949, 1958 and 1967.
I can't post a link yet, but I have the same user name on YouTube as here.
Some of these guys are pathetic, yet still wound up in a duel to first blood. I find it boring from the perspective of technique, but otherwise interesting.

Could you post some links or explain how to search?
I'd like to see this!
Also, ever notice that, in "real life", techniques don't wind up looking much like training? Go figure.I realize you think you understand what you thought I said, but what I am not so sure about is whether what you think you heard is what I think I meant.

Here is the link to John's YouTube channel. The duels he's talking about are all on the first page.

Cool. Thanks, Tony.

Just FWIW, I have added several more duels. All of these are from around 1910 to 1914.

Very cool stuff. I enjoyed that greatly. Thanks!

Very interesting, thanks. It seems that Physicist Marie Curie inspired more duels than an Antebellum Southern Belle...

Are there any videos out there of "Heidelberg duels"?

If you mean schlager mensuren, nothing of documentary nature. There's a fair piece of footage from 1930s German film.
Try searching YouTube for:

My thanks, Archimedes.

Anyone catch what that giant guy said to challenge the duel in Der Untertan? Something like "you insulted my friend's honor - I challenge you to a duel."
So cliche but I guess that's how things were.I realize you think you understand what you thought I said, but what I am not so sure about is whether what you think you heard is what I think I meant.
