    Default Perfect Pushups Review.

I thought there was a thread on this product but I couldn't find it. Oh well.

I've seen the Perfect Pushups advertised and was curious about it. I know it cannot replace free weights or good 'ole fashioned knuckle pushups but I was intrigued as the motion closely resembles a corkscrew punch. Also a good friend of mine that has been a lifelong weight lifter gave it a positive endorsement. So, I decided to order a pair and give it a shot.

I got it on Monday but I purposely waited until today to give it a try. Two reasons for that. One, today is my chest day and already decided I would only use it as a supplementary tool for when I can't make it to the gym.

So I performed 120 pushups. 3 X 10 for four positions, standard, wide, and narrow grips plus incline (legs up on a bench).

Again not bad. I was correct in my initial assessment. It does not replace free weights. The rotation is the only benefit that I can't do with knuckle pushups but other than that it's like I thought. It'd be good only for those days that I can't make the gym or maybe to take on vacation where I don't have access to weights.

I have been curious about the product myself, but it's nice to hear about it from someone that I trust. As far as the twisting motion it concerned, it sounds like a good thing, but at the same time, I'd like to hear an opinion about it from Jason or someone similarly qualified. Considering that pushing and twisting is not a natural motion, I was wondering if it might not be potentially damaging to any of the joints.

That's why I thought we talked about it before here as I thought Jason did opine on it. I'll ask about him about, though.

I like the perfect pushup, but the twisting motion can be duplicated by putting towels on the floor and putting your fists in them, as long as the floor is linoleum, wood or concrete.....also, the perfect pushups are worlds cheaper at Big 5 or Walgreen's-like 19.95 a pair......

    Default Assessment continued.

So today I hit the gym and it's my chest day. I actually felt a negative difference since I didn't hit the gym and instead did the Perfect Pushups. I had enough sleep and nourishment and felt pretty damn good today. No different than any other day so I can attribute it to missing my actual weight day. I do not feel the Perfect Pushups gave me any benefit at all as far strength is concern.
I'm going to have to agree with jwinch in that nothing replaces a good free weight routine. There is no shortcut or gimmick that is going to replace that and I consider it a gimmick.

Like anything else it may be good for someone that has spent a lot of their time idle and hasn't done any kind of exercises.

But, in my opinion it's a waste of money. I'm actually going to give my pair away.
Like Mr Cuffee stated if you want to perform similar motions perform pushups on a towel. Or better yet, you can do the same motion with a pair of dumbbells.

When I used them I realize that you have to use them slow. So if you are trying to do any type of circuit training, they are not an ideal tool. The reason I found is taht when trying to do so many push ups in a mintue I actually over rotated, and tweaked my elbow. Personally I just saw it as a rather useless tool aswell.

My buddy had some of those at his crib and I used them whenever i stopped by. I liked being able to twist one and not the other, made for an interesting push up workout.

"Crib?" Would that be slang for his place?
You know how silly that sounds or reads?
