    Default Chin Na or Jujutsu?

    Hello all,

I haven't posted here in a long time and thought I would share an interesting link.

Pretty interesting techniques being used in the photos. Very similar to jujutsu techniques. Just thought I would share.
    Sincerely,

I actually have the book that those pictures came out of. It is definitely a good read. Enlightening actually, kinda put a little light on a lot of techniques that I thought were specific to BJJ. Boy, the more I learn, the more I realize I don't know.

What I tell my students often:
An armbar is not BJJ. A choke is not BJJ. A footlock is not BJJ. Many arts have all of those things. Now someone can see it in MMA shows or youtube and mimic it, but that doesn't mean they are doing BJJ. BJJ is how you get there.

This applies to all arts. BJJ, Judo, Chin Na, submission wrestling, etc. all are vehicles to get there. There have been drawings and sculptures discovered of Greeks doing arm locks from about 400-500 BC.

You can use the same comparison with striking arts. Kung Fu, Karate, Boxing, Muay Thai, all have punches....
Jiu-Jitsu - like chess, except you get to choke people.
