Random movement of page when viewing or replying to a thread
Has anyone who still uses IE noticed that in the reply/editing window the scroll bar and text will sometimes jump up and down since the upgrade? It's almost like the page is automatically updating and reloading itself repeatedly. I find myself fighting to get to the section I want.
Also, on the main Budoseek page (not the forum main page) I am lately often getting an error message saying my 'token' has expired. Can we be issued tokens with a more distant freshness date?

Thank you, Boss.
The random movement is incredibly irritating. Just now I about threw my mouse through the screen. 'Quick Reply' or 'Advanced' seems to make no difference, even after you have clicked to place the cursor the window moves all over the place, sometimes several times a second.Last edited by David Craik; 06-05-2010 at 14:35.

Just asked this in a PM, but what style are you using? Do you get the jumping around and token issue in other styles, like the default one?

As I mentioned via PM, I'm using the default one. It seems really transient, yesterday was really bad; today I can make the scroll bar jump by clicking the editing field and then passing the mouse over the scroll bar but it isn't jumping around by itself. It seemed most pronounced in longer posts/PMs.
I thought perhaps I had some spyware running but MBAM found nothing. I went over to E-Budo and tried it with IE8 in their editing window after typing a whole bunch of text and it won't do it there, even though their editing window is very similar. I also tried in other places that have scroll bars but the problem seems to only happen here. Maybe it's BudoSeek's way of telling me to stop being so damn long-winded.
I guess I'll have to see if it gets really bad again, and then try at E-Budo to see if it's related solely to my machine, and try again with Chrome and FF to see if it's IE-specific. I tried to make a little movie of it to send to you but the quality was so bad (I used my phone) you can't really see anything.

I've had this before. I had it last week and it was one of the things that finally prompted me to go to Firefox. I didn't get very far into diagnosing how or when it occurred most, but I noticed it when trying to write longer posts. The problem was as David described. I would be writing something and the displayed text would shoot up to the beginning of my post. If I made the mistake of clicking in the window, it would be near impossible to get down to the part I wanted to write in as the displayed text would jump back up almost immediately.
I've had it in the past too... but could never put a finger on when, why, how...
I just wrote a long post on here (using Firefox) and it didn't happen. I am pleased, although others may not be so happy that I can now write even longer pieces of waffleLast edited by Tripitaka of AA; 06-06-2010 at 10:27.

I'm glad someone else has experienced this. Well, not glad that they had problems of course, but that I'm not the only one. What David said about clicking in the window and the text shooting up is exactly what I was getting.
As I mentioned to Robert via PM, using Chrome it doesn't do this, so if this keeps up I'll probably switch browsers as people have been telling me to do for ages now. I'm just set in my ways and I actually like IE8. I've never experienced this anywhere else, nor even on here before the site upgrade. And I think when I first joined here I was still using Windows 95.

Hey guys, with the additional information David (Noble) posted, I was able to replicate the issue. Yes, seems to be a IE issue. So now I am on to it and will see if anyone else is having this problem on the various support sites.

That's great news. It indicates that it isn't something related specifically to my computer, thank heavens. I'm glad David was able to explain it better than I. I was a little worried about finding someone else who had this here, because due to the editing time limit most members don't do much editing, and a lot of mods are using Firefox.
One thing I noticed is that in Chrome when you mouseover the scroll bar it kind of highlights it only when the mouse is actually over it. In IE yesterday, clicking in the text field would seem to select the bar - it stayed highlighted, though this may just be because it was moving around and varying in length so much.

Okay, here's what I know from a little quick research. This is apparently an known issue with this version of the vBulletin software. So they are aware of it and working on the issue. So here's what we can do for the time being...
First, changing to the WYSIWYG editor seems to be the main workaround. Go to your Settings and then My Account then General Settings. Scroll down toward the bottom and find Miscellaneous Options. Change the Message Editor Interface to :Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing". Click Save Changes and you should be good to go!
Changing to the WYSIWYG editor will allow you to create and edit text just as if you were using a Word Processing product. Using the instructions above will change your defaults, but you can change on a "as needed" basis by clicking the A/A toggle on the upper right-hand side of the editor window.
Second, I am for the time being disabling the Quick Edit and Quick Reply features. I may decide to re-enable it in the near feature, but for now having everyone use the full editor will let me further troubleshoot this issue.Robert M. Carver

Hehe, seems our PMs can't keep up with your speed of resolution, Robert.

I have changed my settings to the full WYSIWYG editor as you instructed. I actually like this way better anyway. No stupid scroll bar.
As always, you're my hero.
