    Default Kali/Arnis/Escrima training in Boston

    Hi all,

    As my screen name suggests, I am a Jujitsu student. I am new to Jujitsu, currently 9th kyu, and I am looking to round out my martial arts training by studying a weapons system. I have studied Matayoshi Kobudo and Shindo Muso Ryu Jodo in the past, but they don't seem like the best matches for Jujitsu, and I don't know if they are the best matches for me.

    I'm interested in checking out a Kali, Arnis, or Escrima class in my area, but I can't seem to find an instructor close by. Does anyone know of any Filipino martial arts teachers in the Cambridge/Somerville, MA area?

    I should have said, my Jodo class didn't seem like the best match for my current Jujitsu class, not Jujitsu in general. Jodo makes perfect sense with a lot of Jujitsu training. But classes at my current Jujitsu dojo are pragmatic and reality-based, so Jodo didn't jive as well as it would with another gendai style like Danzan Ryu or a koryu system.

    So, any advice about FMA classes in the Boston area? Any pointers would be really helpful!

    Not in Cambridge/Somerville but there's one in Fall river, MA and another in Dorchester (600 colombia rd) Combat Serrada Escrima.

    I know that Ken DeJesus has a student who teaches up there. Ken teaches down in Florida. I think Brian is still up in the Boston area.
    They do Modern Arnis without much clutter. Ken trained under Remy Presas and truly knows his stuff. I don't know Brian personally but I know he is highly recommended from Ken. You can google Ken Dejesus or the The Philippine Martial Art Societies web page and I think there is a link to Brian's Boston site on there if not call or email Ken and he will give you the contact info.
