Just wanted to say I really enjoyed your article. I especially liked your "silent kiai" section and then the more esoteric ending. Have you ever read the book, "The Looking-Glass God: Shinto, Yin-Yang, and a Cosmology for Today" by Nahum Stiskin?

Regardless of the specifics it is good to see other people spend time thinking about, practicing, and employing kiai in a guided and directed manner. I feel too many people often overlook delving into this important subject, which I find critical the cultivation of spirit budo can provide. For my training, it helps make me more aware of what and why I am executing these movements in training.
