I am doing some research on Shinpo Matayoshi's Kingai-ryu and its White Crane techniques. I have noted some striking similarities between the Shito-ryu version of Hakkuku, Matayoshi's version of Hakkucho, and the kata Hakutsuru, taught to me under Tadashi Yamashita.

I recently did a post (http://okiblog.com/archives/318) showing videos of the three different versions and their obvious and striking similarities.

I believe that Shinpo Matayoshi taught some of his Kingai-ryu to Tadashi Yamashita, but am trying to get more information on the whole thing.

Does anyone here under Tadashi Yamashita know Hakutsuru (or any White Crane Kata), if so where did their teacher learn it.

Does anyone who does Shorinkan, or another Shorin-ryu with Chosin Chibana in its lineage know this kata and how their school came to teach it?

Reaching out to all the martial arts boards I frequent, any help would be extremely helpful to both myself and anyone who reads my blog. Thanks everyone for any input you can give on the matter.
