Default From Judo, BJJ and UFC, "Gi-grappling" goes "under Olympic roof" thruugh FILA!

    http://www.fila-grappling.com/grappling/

Grappling (Gi and no-Gi) is now officially a discipline of FILA, international wrestling federation. So, instead of being promoted by Judo International Federation, Gi-grappling is now accepted by wrestlers. Well done and thumbs up for FILA, and shame on you, JIF. This may not seem so important to those unaware of the fact that FILA national federations receive significant budget from National Olympic Committees and sport authorities - which is vital for development of sport. It is a huge new potential for grappling. I excpect that soon most grappling associations and events (Gi, no-Gi, pankration, and all similar to FILA's "combat grappling") merge with FILA.

I believe they are also going to showcase jiu jitsu at the Olympics in Rio much like when South Korea hosted the Olympics and showcased Tae Kwon Do

    Ooooh, that's going to be a must-see!
I realize you think you understand what you thought I said, but what I am not so sure about is whether what you think you heard is what I think I meant.

Absolutely! Jiujitsu as a demonstration sport in Brazil will be really cool!

It would be cool, but don't hold your breath. The IOC isn't going to support any more grappling sports into a already limited pool. Too many grappling sports, which the public at large don't undersand, and don't draw. Jiu jitus would be too close to judo, (see judo changing dramatically after being included in the Olympics.) If SAMBO didn't make the Moscow Olympics I would really be surpised.

Who knows stranger things have happened, but the IOC is their own beast.
