    Default Tetsu Geta Availability

I'd appreciate it if any of the Japanese or Okinawan stylists on board, would let me know of any sources for commercially produced tetsu geta. I spoke with someone at the Enshin Headquarters a few years ago, and they indicated commercially sold tetsu geta are a rarity even in Japan, these days.

I've acquired a couple of different plans for making your own, which is an alternative.

    Thanks.

I'd say they are wrong, unless they are talking about something specific.

Thanks Russ, I really appreciate it! Please don't make a special trip though.

I've found a little info on them on the Web, and understandably it seems that those manufactured in Japan run on the small side, and I wear a size 11&1/2 shoe. I'd like a pair to actually practice with, rather than having as a collector's item. It's looking like having a rough equivalent fabricated at a metal shop might be the way to go, as trying to get an exact copy might require a foundry.

    Thanks again, Russ.

US 11-12 are all doable in Japan. Where you have problems is at 13...like me. No regular store carries them. Stooooooopid because I know plenty of Japanese folk with size 13 shoes.

They still make "Ishisashi" weights commercially in Japan...a bit modern and all cast steel.
