    Default Anyone seen The Mechanic?

Just watched The Mechanic for the first time. Definitely a fan. Statham and Foster rocked the stunts and the fighting were actually believable! Highly recommend it if you haven't seen it. What do you guys think?

Hmm, looks interesting, but <sigh>... another remake.

Watch the original with Charles Bronson and Jan Micheal-Vincent if you can.

Late to the game as usual, but not only am I sick of remakes but I regard any remaking of a Bronson flick to be a blasphemy. Like a real hitman, Charlie didn't do "stunts", like leaping from buildings. He would simply have taken the stairs, calmly killing every living thing on his way down.

I have both versions on DVD and find both entertaining. Certainly the remake is over the top but I still enjoyed watching the fight scenes. The original is certainly more believable however there was also parts in it the original that were not very realistic either ...such as the opening scene. Certainly easier ways of making something look like an accident.

Regardless of that, one thing I did enjoy about the original was the fight scene with Tak Kubota at the dojo while Bronson and Vincent spectate. Interesting scene also of Bronson doing some Aikido.

Haven't seen the remake, but the original was great.

I believe I read in the remake that they made the Bronson/Statham character out to be a hero rather than the amoral hit man that was in the original. Why? He's a hitman, it doesn't seem plausible

The cool thing about the original was watching Bronson and Vincent characters try to out do each other for no other motivation than money and just enjoy the tight plot. Who needs motivation. In fact at the end we realize that there is not motivation for at least one of the characters, it was just a job.
