    Default Norway Bombed!!!

    Holy God!

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/blog...-live-coverage

From Bård - 8 minutes ago - "Magnus left for bergen yesterday. He is ok. Big blast in the government square in Oslo. Shooting and people killed at a youth political camp outside oslo. Several people i know left for that camp yesterday..."

From Therese - 7 minutes ago - "We are in Kristiansand, 5 hours away so we are safe. Nobody knows what the target was. The bomb was just next to the prime ministers office, the energy ministry and lots of other ministries. basically the political centre of Norway. Parents and sister are not in town. There is a shooting going on just now, at the social democratic youth party summer camp (Bård's party). person dressed as a police officer shooting crazy, several casualties..."

Bård - I was at an autodealer in Bergen, opposite side of the country. All safe and well. But still... That was my street home when I lived in Oslo. And Ive been at Utøya camp several times.

Magnus - 2 minutes ago - "I arrived Bergen just now. I heard and felt the huge blast when I was entering the bus taking me to the airport! Only a km away from the explosion!"

These guys are my former roommates and some of the best, most lovable people I've ever known.

For some reason this pisses me off more than 9/11. I saw that as a horrible but inevitable tragedy.

Norway, on the other hand... is there a Norwegian Foreign Legion?

Apparently there has been an arrest at the camp. Ostensibly the or one of the shooters.

I am trying to follow this story. The natural suspects are islamic militants. Norway has had to stop a few attempts ever since that cartoon of the prophet. But the fact that the shooter was dressed as a police officer gives me pause about that theory. In a place like Norway, anyone not lilly white in a police uniform would be suspicious.

On second thought, I really don't know all that much about Norway. Would it be unusual for someone obviously not white being part of the police?

There are plenty of immigrants there. I met some Vietnamese, too. Culture seems to be very easygoing toward immigrants.

One of my old roommates is 1/2 Indian and 1/2 Norwegian. He and his brother were both Norwegian SEALS (Marinejaeger). If he needed it, I'd cut out my own liver for him. Astoundingly good guy.

Right now we don't know whether it was Islamic Terrorists or internal Right Wing Terror, a la Oklahoma City. Norway seems to think it was not Islamic. However; given their (Islamic Terrorists) penchant for bombing and shooting unarmed civilians, it is understandable that Muslim Terror is the first thought on everyone's mind. Frankly, internal Right Wing terror would suprise me - but then I don't know much about Norway.

Hopefully, this will cause Europe to reconsider resurrecting gallows for thugs to hang from. I just don't understand why we can put rabid dogs to death but not rabid people?

I've know blonde haired blue eyed Muslims from the Balkans and one of my best friends is as fair skinned as you can get and he is from Iran.

Granted it would be unusual for a Muslim from Bosnia to be involved in an Islamic militant group.

More from Bård - 55 minutes ago -
This is experiencing 9/11 over again that morning in San Luis Obispo, this time so much closer, this time a direct attack on my political party where I once had a prominent role with. The fake policeman called over kids to him and then executed them with a Glock. Then he fired on random. He went to the beach of the island, brought up his sniper rifle and executed kids who were swimming desperately from the island. This is where I was the summer before leaving for California.

I posted on my facebook wall that if anyone says anything like, "of course this is a tragedy BUT" than anything after "but" will only earn them my hatred.

I am getting sick of apologists using incidents like this to try to give the animals what they want.

Much is Europe is already on the verge of a Muslim backlash, and this could very well be what pushes them over the edge. The bomb was one thing, mass-murder of children is a whole different story.

It's time to get really, really serious about the Islamists. I just pray to God that people can still care enough to discern between the innocent muslims caught in the middle vs. the bastards who deserve to be hanged.

Just ready the story on Yahoo! and it saying 16 people died. Where are you seeing it was a Muslim who did this? I know they have Muslim attacks against Norway have been threatened but haven't seen anything on the slimebag who did this nor heard of any groups taking responsability.

    Good question, Debra.

There was a section in one or more of the articles I posted that described:
    - threats due to reprinting the Danish cartoons
    - threats due to deporting some terrorist imams
    - AQ's wrath on account of Norway's involvement in Afghanistan
    - UK and France just stepped up their security in recent months leaving Norway looking like the easiest target in the area

All of this is just speculation, of course. We'll have to see what the gunman they caught has to say for himself.
I realize you think you understand what you thought I said, but what I am not so sure about is whether what you think you heard is what I think I meant.

"A terror group, Ansar al-Jihad al-Alami (the Helpers of the Global Jihad), issued a statement claiming responsibility for the attack, according to Will McCants, a terrorism analyst at CNA, a research institute that studies terrorism. The message said the attack was a response to Norwegian forces' presence in Afghanistan and to unspecified insults to the Prophet Muhammad. "We have warned since the Stockholm raid of more operations," the group said, apparently referred to a bombing in Sweden in December 2010, according to Mr McCants' translation. "What you see is only the beginning, and there is more to come." The claim could not be confirmed."
Since an islamic terror group has taken credit for it, it is only natural to assume that they probably had a hand in it. They may be lying, but until we know otherwise that is a very valid way to think.

In the Oklahoma bombings, islamists were initially blamed, incorrectly as it turned out. In the Spain bombings, the government tried to avoid blaming islamists at first but it later turned out they were responsible.

But for now, the folks that took credit should be considered suspects. There are some who have knee jerk reactions and think that muslims should never be blamed for terror attacks, even when they take credit for it. I do not understand that type of thinking. I would be mortified if I were of the same faith and denouncing the scum bags more than people outside my religion.

LOL, Erik is a deep and complicated thinker. I guess he means the Norwegians are pretty harmless (like us Canadians) while America is a constant target due to its position as the world's policeman.

It is true that a lot of the globe expects the US to clean up the various messes, then feel free to tell the US to bugger off right after the heavy lifting is done.
