Suai Chiao Chinese Wrestling Video by Yuan Zumou
I had a friend at the dojo hand me a video on this the other day and I just got done watching it. I am not a great student of Chinese history and I really don't know the background of this teacher. Despite that, I am impressed by his skill. Seriously, this stuff looks as old school as one can get in regards to effortless grappling.
I am very impressed with this video, although completely uneducated in anything that it encompassed historically or in terms of authenticity. But they are pretty talented and they know how to toss a body.
Anyone else familiar with this art?Russ Ebert

Yeag share a link if possible. SJ is mpt my bag of tricks, but every CMA had some SJ in it since the underlying principles of CMA is to finish quick & hard. The ground provides that all at one shot.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qmi8EXRy62I this is it...it's a promo for Rising Sun Video (beware, I do not know who they are or if they are legitimate). Looking at it clearly this might be something Modern stealing from other styles to address Judo. Anyway, I enjoyed the video. Maybe I was duped?

Right! I enjoyed watching it. Their approach is very "flowy" and I can see how that is effective. It seems this is Wushu based, so it is most likely this is part of the "Red" martial arts acumen with "questionable" (as in...Maoist) background....but aside from that they are pretty damned good.

Good stuff. Rising Sun is an ok video company.
Russ... the flowy base is Wushu, but not PRC wushu. It's the real viable wushu that all CMA are. When you get a CMA that doesn't flow, then you can start looking to the gov't PRC version of things. No dramatic pausing, no tension building with mad faces & incredible jumping. Good flow = good CMA.
Not sure if this guy is mainland or Taiwan to know if the "Baoding Shuai Jiao" from Chang Tung sheng or not. There's other SJ videos out there of competitions, training vids, etc... I'd peruse them for more insights. Like I mentioned before, I'm not a SJ guy, but all CMA have a degree of SJ in it, just like all CMA have a degree of Qinna. The idea is to finish quick & hard in CMA and the biggest thing to hit your opponent with is the ground. So every body has a few scattered techniques to work on that idea.Message: Due to the ongoing Recession, God has decided the light at the end of the tunnel will be shut off due to power costs. Following the recommended links after that one took me to this. I'm not sure I can be trusted on YouTube any more.
