Pretty good article! "Targeting" and "timing" are very important in the consideration of Maai. I would say even more important in some ways. Knowing what you are looking to do and when to do it have probably the biggest affect on the gauging of distance. Like shooting, you have to know your target and how far away it is before knowing when to squeeze a round off. Extremely universal principles that cross cultural barriers.
