Here is an interesting story, Steve Jobs, the guy who killed the CD never mind vinyl, listened to vinyl at home according to Neil Young.

so a poll, there are a few audiophiles on the board Robert, Dave Noble, Sean, Dennis...

Seems the sound of music has progressively gotten worse from vinyl to CD to digital...

I myself still remember the great warmth and fidelity of a vinyl record on a turntable through a solid state amp (tubes were long gone by my time)

But vinyl was a pain, it sounded great the first time, then the pops and hisses started and they were a pain to maintain, as was the turntable.
