Rare Books for Sale
Hello,
I am trimming my book collection. Below is a list of books I'm willing to part with:
Canon of Judo: Principle and Technique by Kyuzo Mifune, 10th Dan, 1956 Copyright, 1962 Printing, Hard Cover, Fair Condition, Asking price is $120.00 OBO.
Judo Training Methods: A Source Book by Takahiko Ishikawa and Donn F. Draeger, 1961 Copyright, 1962 First Edition/First Printing, Hard Cover, Very Good Condition, Asking price is $100.00 OBO.
Budo Training in Aikido by Morihei Ueshiba (Founder of Aikido), Translated by Larry E. Bieri and Seiko Bieri, 1978 Copyright, 1978 First Printing, Excellent Condition. This book has its original Japanese binding, and thick paper/cardboard cover which is tied together with purple string. The "Translator's Introduction" states: '"The original copy has O-Sensei's title which was simply "Budo Renshu", i.e. "Budo Training". Later the second Doshu annotated this with the word "Aikido". The Dojo decided on using the original name here despite the fact that most Japanese copies are entitled "Aikijujutsu Ogi", or "The Secrets of Aikijujutsu". The latter is actually an interpretive heading used by copyists."' I was presented with this book in 1983 by my Aikido Sensei in Japan, just prior to my military reassignment elsewhere. It has only been taken out of it's cover perhaps a dozen times. This is a very rare book. Asking price is $1,400.00 OBO.
Traditional Aikido, Vol I, Basic Techniques by Morihiro Saito, 8th Dan, Hard Cover, 1973 Copyright, 1976 Fourth Printing, Hard Cover. Actual book is in Excellent Condition, the paper dust cover is in fair condition.
Traditional Aikido, Vol 2, Advances Techniques by Morihiro Saito, 8th Dan, Hard Cover, 1973 Copyright, 1978 Sixth Printing, Hard Cover. Actual book is in Excellent Condition, the paper dust cover is in fair condition.
Traditional Aikido, Vol 3, Applied Techniques by Morihiro Saito, 8th Dan, Hard Cover, 1974 Copyright, 1978 Fourth Printing, Hard Cover. Actual book is in Excellent Condition, the paper dust cover is in fair condition.
Traditional Aikido, Vol 4, Vital Techniques by Morihiro Saito, 8th Dan, Hard Cover, 1974 Copyright, 1977 Third Printing, Hard Cover. Actual book is in Excellent Condition, the paper dust cover is in fair condition.
Traditional Aikido, Vol 5, Training Works Wonders by Morihiro Saito, 8th Dan, Hard Cover, 1976 Copyright, 1978 Second Printing, Hard Cover. Actual book is in Excellent Condition, the paper dust cover is in fair condition.
These books are in both English and Japanese. I do not want to breakup the set. I purchased these in Japan in the early 1980s. They have seen virtually no use. Asking price is $500.00 OBO for the set.
Hakko-Ryu Jujutsu book by Ryuho Okuyama, Soke Shodai. My understanding is it's essentially the story of Ryuho Okuyama and the founding of Hakko-Ryu Jujutsu. The book is entirely in Japanese, but has a very nice, full page picture of Okuyama Soke. This is a Hard Cover book in Excellent Condition. It was presented to me when I achieved Shihan in Hakko-Ryu Jujutsu, at the Hombu in Japan, in 1983. Asking price is $50.00 OBO.
